I had the 826M and they were a pain to clean. That's why I bought the 963M. None of the latest M wheels are easy to clean. The newer M brake pads leave a brown residue on the wheels and tires

You can buy the M4 CSL or M3 CS wheels 827M for about the same price or cheaper than 826M.. 827M are lighter than the 826M. Sell you take off wheels and upgrade to 827M. That's what I would do.

M4 CSL (black)
827M 9.5x19 ET20 - PN 36 10 8093840
827M 10.5x20 ET20 - PN 36 10 8093841

M3 CS (gold)
827M 9.5x19 ET20 - PN 36 10 7884365
827M 10.5x20 ET20 - PN 36 10 7884366

Yup, exactly the route I would go. Just wish the gold version wasn’t so expensive compared to the black. Maybe the price will come down once there is more production.

I was trying to make this exact plan work this morning, but I'm not a huge fan of black wheels, and the gold ones would be suspect on ZB. The only bi-colors are 825M and 826M and if purchasing those would not present a huge value or worthwhile exercise in shaving 5lbs per wheel.

I also find those designs so not suit the G87 nearly as well as the G80/82 platforms.

The black 827M's present the best value at only 3k for all four. But the gold ones are a $1600 premium - questionable value.

I'm kind of stuck going back to 963M's or Apex VS-5RS in Anthracite.

963M and Apex VS5-RS are nice. I really like the 825M too.

I'd love to stay "factory" but the intake, exhaust, and strut brace will not be factory anyway so maybe just go full aftermarket...hmm

Another advice is to not Powdercoat your stock wheels. The value of your wheels will drop significantly. They will sell for less than stock.

Personally I prefer the 826m. Also there are some great used deals out there.

Ideally, I would run 19" stagerred but they looked small on on G80. They might look better on G87. You are limited on tire choice with 19/20 wheels. I tried 19" square and the handling was compromised.

Powdercoat the cast anchors, I mean wheels? Why bother spending a penny on those (they are heavy and weak, compared to forged). I would just put any money you want to invest in rims to a set of forged (whether that be other BMW models or aftermarket).

Agree, the 963M were 8-9 lbs lighter than 826M. There are a lot of wheel options for G8X. Forged FTW

I’m most likely going the same route. But I wish the 827m’s came in Bicolor

Not a fan of the black finish & gold will definitley clash with ZB.
So it’s the 963m gunmetal for me , which looks totally badass imo .

I honeslty think there will be a noticable difference in handling & turn in going from the stock cast wheels to one of the lightest oem forged.

Not to mention overall weight of the vehicle will go down a smidge , & thats always a plus

Did you see Tag mockup on the ZB show car? Not the greatest angle but gives us a solid starting point. Looks like weight savings will be upwards of 10lbs per wheel - that's pretty serious. There's a lot of opportunity on this car!

Thanks again for doing that!

I personally think the gold will look great against ZB. I remember someone mocking up the gold 1000M wheels against ZB and the contrast looked amazing. Just my opinion

Edit: found the pic. Not a great photoshop but it gives you an idea

Definitely worth exploring.

I think these more muted (?) and/or darker golds will look awesome. Agree that I'm trying to avoid the super rich Subie gold too

I prefer the gold color they used on the M2 CS 763M wheels. In the pics these look to be more of a bronze color which i’m not a fan of.

Interesting observation you made, you're totally right the 1000M Gold looks way more bronze in every single photo I've seen.

The 963M Gold however looks like the actual thing

This finish is titled "Motorsport gold". The new wheels are gold/bronze finish.

Anyone think 963M's are worth more than double the cost of Matte Black 827M's?
