That said, it's hard to believe but Perez has had 4 podiums out of 7 races this year and mostly 1-2 finishes. That's fine for a number 2 driver--especially one you never have to worry will trip over your number 1 (let's ignore Miami, turn 1). He's faded a bit over the last couple of races but not so much that the Constructor's is in any doubt. His seat is safe.

Checo has to turn it around though, no contract in hand yet... Imola was bad... Not quite last year bad, his form is still greatly improved. He's never been overly strong in qualifying, he relies on his ability to manage tires well in the race, but that's not going to help on tracks like Imola and Monaco where passing is difficult. He usually excels on street tracks though, so let's see what happens this weekend.

I read him to mean that it's very hard to pass at Imola unless you have a huge pace differential. DRS zone is pretty short and there is really just one braking zone where an overtake is doable. The upgraded Ferrari is better, not near on the level of RB, but not getting left for dead like it has been most of the time since mid-2022. Plus IIRC, the undercut wasn't too powerful this past weekend. So had the Ferraris qualified on the front row, they would've had a good (but not ironclad) chance of a win if they were ahead into turn 1.

I don't think #FerrariFred had anything to do with recruiting hammy. That's one obvious headache he doesn't need when SAI is perfectly capable. I think it was a business decision from that $hitbird John Elkann

Elkann never seems to show himself at any races and I think he knows sweet FA about the team, I guess he's the one at the other end of the phone when Bino, Arrivabene and now Fred receives calls from Elkann in his ivory tower.
