Hopefully YOU know what that means ...
It means McLaren engineers think they have a good chance of beating Ferrari, that's really what it means to them.

Finally we can agree about....Something .

If Red Bull can't improve the RB20 , it will be extremely close in the WDC.
As for the WCC , it looks even more bad for the Red Bull Team because Checo keeps on s@cking.
So , the 2024 WCC is for McLaren..
With 9 races left, Max will have to have some DNF's to make WDC close. This is like Jenson 2009 championship season, when he went out into a big lead in first half of the season. RB/Vettel clawed back into championship with upgrades

Nah, it's easier than that, If Oscar can live up to it, the orange cars should have been a 1-2 today based on the pace. Unless Lando is that much better than Oscar. But I think the real reason is the team believes Oscar was racing Hamilton and strategized accordingly.

McLaren is trending to easily grab the Constructors. WDC is a different story.

None of this has been true except when he has the fastest car by a significant margin. The RB is at basically a "0" setup and was/is nearly on par with the McLaren. Yet despite this, Max hasn't won in 5-6 races.
I think Max is the 2nd or 3rd best driver on the grid, with Hamilton being the best by a significant margin and then Fernando and Max battling for a distant second.

Lando is a midfielder with a rocketship.

Nah brah, Charlie is a pretty clean racer. PIA would have took him if he could. Highly doubt McLaren would have asked him to hold station. Also doubt PIA would have listened.

The pace of Lando's McLaren was unbelievable, it's been a loooooong time since we've seen RB so down on race pace.

I know there's a way to go and Max likely still has this wrapped up, but can you imagine the heat McLaren is going to take if we get down to a few races and that Hungarian race fiasco comes back to bite them? Imagine Lando closes the gap to 20 points or so with a couple races to go.

McLaren won't get in trouble with Ferrari..
The McLaren target is to beat Red Bull in the WCC and WDC..

Red Bull => 434
McLaren => 404
Ferrari => 370

McLaren has gained 57 points in 4 races (!)
With still 9 races to go...

Max is definitely in for some tough competition, but it was interesting to see that outside of Lando, no-one was coming close. Hats of to Charles for stellar performance, Lewis clawing up from 14th wasn’t bad, but much less switching around mid pack….not a good day at the office for Aston, couldn’t hold back RB, Ferrari, McLaren or Mercedes today.
I'm pretty sure , Lando ran with 'all the latest McLaren upgrades and Piastri not yet..
I think Piastri will get the latest McLaren upgrades next weekend at Monza , and that's bad news for MAX and the Red Bull WCC .
If Lando and Piastri can finish in front of MAX ,then the deed is done ...
And I wouldn't count on Checo (as usual)

The clock is ticking for the Red Bull Team (!)

Looking at the last 30 years, only once the WDC winner was not a GP winner in the first 5 races. That was 2012 when there were 8 different winners in as many GPs. Vettel won the 4th race, even Maldonado won one, one of the most exciting seasons in decades. This year, Norris’ maiden victory came at the 6th race. (Sainz won the 3rd race, but he’s not a contender.) And no driver has won his maiden victory and the championship in the same year. (Hamilton came close.) From a statistic-ish POV, this year is Verstappen’s. Now, it’s very possible that Norris ends second to Verstappen by fewer than 7 points. And then … how do we say ‘there’ll be hell to pay’ in Hungarian ?

I’ve never heard of a team that sacrificed the WDC for the WCC. The latter brings money. But the bragging rights is the WDC.

The weekly Russell strategy digest.

One week Russell pulls a strategy that takes him to P1 but too light, another week the Russell strategy of let's give away P5 to put on some softs and finish P7.

IIRC in Q2 Hamilton was the fastest so I'm not sure what happened in Q3 but we don't know how quick the car is this week, something strange happened.

Agreed with you on half of this, but Hamilton, who is struggling to beat Russel... The delusion is real. He was great. He's still good, but outperformed by the likes of Lando. Can't wait till next year when you get to watch Charles constantly out perform him.
