That makes no sense.
Here's to hoping these cars will not be $80k. Look at the Model 3. If BMW/Alfa can make a ~$50k EV sport sedan the numbers would make sense.

I agree beyond that it doesn't make sense.

A scary conversation I heard one time my mom was having. A Chinese guy was talking about how he couldn't understand why the speed limits were so high as his car could never go that fast. My mom told him those are not speed limit signs but the route number for the road.

Tesla can't even make a $50K EV sports sedan, and they apparently make 40% profit on their cars (I don't believe it - BTW). I mean a real sports sedan that doesn't weigh 4,500 pounds and is controllable at the limits without CAD (computer-aided driving).

Meanwhile in Texas, the rates are going up:

https://www.cnn.com/2023/09/08/energ...ave/index.html

But not for the reason you might think.

https://www.chron.com/news/houston-t...y-18352398.php

They are literally paying off high energy bitcoin mining with your money. I have a friend that does this (in TX).

I was there this summer during the hottest weeks. Luckily those big TV billboards were still on...so definitely a "crisis".

There is another factor in overweight EV's concerning collision damage and of course with Teslas.
The heavier weight of an EV leads to more crash damage as the heavier bulk absorbing the impact has more 'dead weight' on it to accept more damage, the amount of damage on a Tesla I've seen in vids in even slow speed accidents rendering it totalled in a lot of cases, can be far greater than a lighter gas car and an awkward light crash with the battery hit means it's also totalled.

This is why I am glad that I drive a car that is best in class for safety.

Really you're going with the publication that ranks the WEY Coffee 01 and the ORA Funky Cat in the top 5? I've got a used bridge in London to sell you.

What do you use?

The video shows you the eval methodology:

NCAP only assesses vehicles.

How do you think Jeep sales would be if the government offered a $7500.00 rebate to jeep buyers?

First rule of business is to be profitable, If you can't make money on EV's don't play.

Ford Loses Nearly $60,000 for Every Electric Vehicle Sold
The legacy carmaker has, for the first time, published its results, distinguishing the activities of electric vehicles from those of gasoline cars. For now, clean cars are a money pit.

You bet Ford will be making less EV's behind the scene but it will not be telling the public that. It s all about the Benjamins! No EV push means no financing due to ESG.

Jeep isn’t $7500 away from success. They are in huge trouble regardless of market manipulation by government fiat.

Ford and GM are in trouble along with VW if the world presses forward with EVs via mandates.

It will be hard to unleverage legacy auto debt while changing the way they even approach building EVs.

There is going to be so much tension with Dems in the US trying to balance auto unions and the green push.

You do realize these brands make cars all over the world, including places where EV are centuries away from any form of meaningful implementation right.

US is one of the worlds biggest markets, but they are not the only market
