That's crazy, mine shipped from KY and that is the earliest point I have. I ordered through my provider, T-Mobile.

The providers ship from their facilities. AT&T from Dallas (mostly) and T-Mobile from KY (mostly). When ordering from Apple they usually come from China after the initial ones. They are pre-positioned for the first batch - flown over by the 10s of thousands in chartered 747s. Once those are depleted, they come from China.

Seems like the people who ordered through the phone companies are getting their phones earlier than the apple people. I should've known better I preordered my 6 thru ATT and got it on day one. There's a ton of contradictory info in my tracking, the status also says "in transit" and I got an email from UPS earlier to expect delivery today but tracking still shows nothing. Also the shipping method they used says 2-3 days for US delivery

Well... you'd better hope it's on a plane and not on a Hanjin ship. Could be months if that's the case.

Looks like my guesstimate of "tens of thousands" of iPhones per shipment was vastly underestimated. Apparently, a 747-8 has a theoretical volumetric capacity of over 600,000 iPhones, a theoretical weight capacity of about 350,000 and an optimized capacity of 220,00 per shipment (based on the weight of the 6) with lighter freight using the remaining capacity to fill the plane more full. I actually rather doubt Apple cares about that and I do believe I read they charter the whole plane, so I would bet they are closer to the 350,000 per shipment number.

You guys have to keep in mind the phones for GSM and CDMA are different. There is two different versions of the iPhone 7. The GSM version (ATT, Tmobile etc) doesn't work for CDMA (Verizon, Sprint etc). So depending what carrier your phone is for, availability is different.

Again, not trying to be pedantic, but that might matter to someone going to buy one. http://www.apple.com/iphone-7/specs/

Ha, that's funny. The exact same thing happenedto me. Amazon emailed saying I was getting a refund for the extra shipping costs.

As I mentioned before. There are two versions. GSM and CDMA version. Earlier iphones (5/6) didn't have this and worked for all carriers. http://www.macrumors.com/2016/09/08/...els-lack-cdma/
