Ha! You are aware that there were decades of M vehicles produced prior to side gills? Personally, I am delighted to see them go the way of the dodo bird. It was a fad that technically reappeared in 1995 via the E36/7 Z3/M Roadster and then it spread from there. Yes, they existed on other BMW models, but it had been since the 50s. Anyways, clearly they have been shelved for the time being? Last edited by T_U_D; 02-11-2023 at 03:28 PM.. |

I liked side gills on the E46, E6X, and E9X. On the G8X they are meh. Not the worst offence in the look department but not great. They might not serve much or a purpose if at all but done right, they can, in come case, accentuate the wider than non-M counterpart stance. I can respect folks that don't care for them.

I want them just because the side profile looks a bit too plain for my taste and I believe they would kinda help with making the bonnet not appear as long as it does. Sort of like a visual cue to help with not focusing so much on the length of the bonnet in a way.

Once you see a G87 in person and it dawns on you just how boxed the front fenders are you will forget all about it. I do not believe side vents/gills would aesthetically work given how boxed the fenders are. |

I hear ya. I think E9X style gills might work with the front fender flare but not having them is not a deal breaker.

I think it looks cleaner without - but if it was there with a purpose that would be good too. |

G87 in sunlight, posted today. I'm guessing from Dubai.
For me, I prefer the standard badging on this car - notice how the badge fills out the boot lid from 1:25. The white border on the 50th Anniversary badges make it look a lot smaller. Last edited by Lex Templar; 02-14-2023 at 04:04 AM.. |

That's actually mindbogglingly pronounced. Almost looks just as big as a Hellcat's widebody fender flares...minus the superglue and cheap plastic.
