Great portrait of Lincoln. Perfect light and processing.

Thanks. It was quite an experiment as I did not have a proper focal length lens for this composition and the elimination of the other tourists. Instead, I stitched four separate exposures via photomerge and this is the result.

Very neat. I was wondering about the crowds. About what focal length was this at for each image?

Yes, great portrait. Someday I'll make it back East.
So, would this be a HDR from the 4 images? Or stacked focus?

This was shot with a Canon 24-70mm @ 70mm, 1/13th second, f 4.0, landscape orientation, four shots merged into a vertical panorama. I believe I used CS-2 for the photomerge. If you step back to include the entire statue in a single frame I would have had numerous other visitors to deal with and the would have completely changed the perspective of the image. Using the panorama feature in photoshop, or other software, has other uses besides capturing the wide open spaces. It also opens other possibilities for your available focal lengths and can provide some different visual perspectives.

Great job stitching, IRide. Not easy dealing with perspective changes when stacking vertically.

Still reworking some files from last year. Not much to shoot now.

I love the eyes, pose and detail, but there's something reflecting off it's right side causing a yellowish ting. I might try to put a mask on that area and change color temp or crop tighter.

Not sure how I missed that, except that this is a serious crop and it's not so evident in the full image. Let me rework that a bit.
EDIT: There, fixed.

If you ever make it back to D.C. and visit the Korean War Memorial do so at night, it has an entirely different (eerie) feel to it. When you stand next to the statues you have the feeling of being on the patrol with these ghostly figures.

I picked up a Tokina 16-28 f2.8. Nice little lens for quite a bit less than half the Canon 16-35 f2.8. I'm pretty happy with it so far.

It has AF. Snappy, too. The two things most folks complain about are the fixed hood and the curved front element. Tough to use filters with this lens.
