We convinced our niece that she was worth it. 14+ years with the little mom/pop payroll firm, and other companies begging her to join them, she finally did. Big raise, back-up so she can take time off, she decided SHE should buy dinner.

Pho, fried rice, spring rolls, and one of the best Old Fashioned in Ventura county.

Bagara rice
Indian rice pilaf

Flavor is an 11 out of 10. Strong recommend.

Basmati rice with vegetables and seasonings. Finished with a tadka of curry leaves, mustard seeds and red chile. Accompanied by mint chutney.

Vegetarian, and can be vegan if the small amount of ghee is eliminated.

Basmati rice
onions
peas
green chile
French beans
whole cinnamon
whole cloves
whole cardamom
curry leaves
stone flower
ginger garlic paste
salt
ghee (small amount)

Thanks! Cooking is my relaxation and creativity outlet.

The Indian dishes are fun because of the process and the ingredients. Most cities of any size have an Indian grocery and all of them that I have visited have a full array of Indian staples.

Grab a recipe off YouTube and go for it! Kabita's Kitchen has a large number of reliable recipes. Her earlier videos are better, they are simpler and more to the point.

Well, the chicken thighs I was going to cook for dinner went in the garbage. So it’s either grilled cheese, an omelet or a tuna sandwich.

I like tuna and I like grilled cheese but I can’t put the two together.

My take on tuna is a bit different. Italian tuna packed in Olive oil, chopped black oil cured olives, chopped cherry tomatoes and arugula. Maybe add a drop more olive oil. On toast.

Well, it seems my tuna or grilled cheese options are off the table too. The freaking Arnold Oat Nut bread I just bought went in the garbage. It was green molded. WTF? Seriously? The date is late October?!?!? I guess it’s a spinach, tomato and pepperjack omelet. Or screw it and order pizza

Dal tadka, aromatic rice and raita
Lentil stew, aromatic rice and cucumber yogurt condiment

Near the top of the list for flavor and texture. Great combination of smooth lentils with rice. Strongly flavored dal is tempered by the cooling raita.

Aromatic rice: Basmati rice, salt, cumin seeds, whole cardamom

Raita: yogurt, grated cucumber, finely diced onion, salt, cumin powder and red chili powder

Dal tadka:
Mix of four kinds of lentils, choose your favorites
Turmeric
