Looks & feels great, but only with front spacer
I am guessing the fronts were clearing the OEM coilovers without spacers?

Not OP and I haven’t installed these on my car YET, but I drove BoilerM’s car (local to my area) who has the Bilsteins and can confirm the thump is gone. He did have the thump before installing. I’ve mentioned this a couple times on the infamous thump thread, but I will definitely be installing these before fall - thump only noticeable in colder weather for me.

So I bought my M240i about 6 months ago, loved the car except the suspension. I had Eibach springs installed on OEM adaptive suspension but besides giving it good looks the car drove like $hit compared to my 2016 M4.

Now I preferred keeping the EDC and I like a sporty ride so the Bilstein EVO SE was the way to go and compared to Ohlins without EDC this one was even a bit cheaper.

I also changed the standard Pirelli's to Michelin 4S and had the car alligned and boy this move made it a completely different car.

Sporty, comfortable, hard or superhard is all subjective so where I drove my M4 in sport all day someone else find comfort mode too hard so I wont go too much into that
But the driving performance, the steering improvement and the handling are on a completely different level.
Where before the upgrade the nose of the car stayed behind in steering into curves this completely changed now.

The standard suspension was way too soft for the weight of the car and while being ok in daily driving the car felt dangerously unstable in fast and consecutive curves.

By the way, the EVO series is the same as the G20 so dont worry about this coilover not being available for the G42.

The height is adjustable but I put it on the same height as the Eibach springs. I will attach a fast phone pic.
That looks awesome. Does this mean all Evo series that works with the g20 will work with the g42? I’m looking at the evo t1 and t2 and thinking of using that as my setup and I want to hit the track more and the suspension is way too soft.

It seems that every retailer that has these coilovers for sale has the price locked down at $3,200.

Bilstein must have strict MSRP policies

They do show a dealer MAP on it at 3199. Dealer discount isnt steller anyway, plus there will be $100 in transaction fee on it. Its a special order item. Shows out of stock at Bilstein. There isnt a massive dealer discount. I wouldnt be surprised to find 100-200 off MAP from a reseller but past that its not worth their time or risk. Id sell ya one for $200 off if it was on a shelf... but no stock no eta.. not even worth looking at for the time being.

Seems like there’s a good opportunity for another company to come out with a set of coilovers with EDC and sell them at a less than astronomical price.

I just picked up a set of these from XLR8 Performance for $3149 shipped. They told me that these ship direct from Bilstein after ordering. Only took about a week and a half to get here. One local shop quoted $1300 plus an alignment for install, should I shop around a bit more?

I think 1300 for install is very high. I think it is 5 hours labor max.
I had the coilovers including install for 3.500 euros here in Europe but prices must be around the same here.

$1,300 is a bit high. However if it is a BMW specialized tuning shop, then that is somewhat average. Shopping around here in Las Vegas, the best price I could find to install Eibach springs, and then afterward and alignment, was $900. However the BMW type shops wanted at least 11 or $1,200. And another thing you have to consider, if the shop doing the install has experience with the BMW EDC systems. The shop that I used, had previously installed different suspension components on different BMWs, so I was comfortable with that

Appreciate the feedback! I found another thread with recommended Denver shops, so I'm going to call around today to see if any of them beat that quote. The shop that quoted $1300 is one of the shops listed in that thread, and was recommended to me by a friend who wrenches at the dealer that I picked up my 240 from.

1300 is absolutely insane. Coilovers are so quick to install with a lift. Hell I could do the install with jack stands in my driveway in less than 4 hours taking my time.

Even with an alignment which should be around $100 I wouldn’t ever pay more than 6-700 for an install.

I think the real question is due to keeping the EDC system does that increase the complexity of the install and require more $$$?

Not at all. It’s just plugging in some sensors.
