Thank you for sharing, what an amazing trip! Stunning car and nature, wonderful pictures.
Some of them look like the reality-version of Bob Ross paintings

Wow you did all this from Florida? I want to too (drove plenty around some of these same areas when I lived closer to that part of the country), but my wife will divorce me if I even propose the plan. Plus one needs a lot of time to do justice to a trip like this.

I used to do trips out west from WI and it wasn't that bad! This was in a Honda Civic back when I was in college. In a BMW in the Midwest, I'll happily get on the road going west again! Alas, I'm now in FL.

Another picturesque trip by snowbimmer means a bunch of screen savers. I will have to remove the one I still have from the last trip right now and insert the new. Out with the old in with the new. Thank you for these fantastic pictures.

That is one hell of a well planned out and awesome road trip my man. I’m jelly. Love the scenic pics and congrats on the ride. I did one road trip from Cambridge, UK to Rome, Italy in 2010 in my E92 M3 I picked up new in Munich when I was stationed in England. Still have it now state side but haven’t done many road trips here. Sure is best of times.

Pace yourself.

I think you're referring to the overall trip map. I line it out on google maps, print it and then mark it up with some of the trip details, then turn it into a jpeg.

Can’t wait for your next post about your trip in September.
Thank you. It actually does take a lot of time and effort for a thread like this - there's lots of Bimmerpost quirks. I think I have it down to a manageable process now.

We also took trips all over the west as I was growing up. Oddly, my dad loved to drive. Big ole Ford Galaxies. I never stopped. Just finished Ken Burns' "The National Parks - America's Best Idea" recently. After watching it again (after 15 years) you realize there are a lot of people out there that had National Park DNA injected into their systems when they were kids and they still carry it around with them today. What great memories.

Hopefully, the September trip with 6 national parks will yield some good stuff.

As a side note, I see you have a '21 Donington M5C. My first thread in 2019 was with a Donington M5 that took me to all the great parks in UT. It was a beautiful car, as you well know. However, it got traded out for a '21 M5C - which is still the best car I've ever had, even though the M850 is my favorite. Alas, the Donington became Brands Hatch and it's just not as good. Always lovin' me some Donington.

Thanks for following along.

I watched it a few years ago- great documentary, and America's National Parks are such a phenomenal idea. Kudos to those who established them.

Try the MyRouteplanner website / app. It is very good for route planning.

It took a long time for the idea to catch on. Park visits really took off after WWII. People had cars and young families - the trains weren't needed anymore. Pictures from the '60s show the parks just crammed with people. But, there were only 100,000,000 visits back then. Now? 325,000,000 in 2023. They are being loved to death. And now, several parks have timed entry systems. Six years ago we were in Yosemite and the valley floor was overrun with people. There was virtually no parking at Yosemite Village. And this was at the end of September, after the summer high season. I'm not quite to the point where it would keep me away - we've been pretty lucky mostly. I'd still rather go than not go. Just might have to get more creative with the timing.

This chart encompasses the parks and monuments administered by the National Park Service. Oh, to be at a park in the early 1900's. Course, the roads probably sucked.

I drove to Yellowstone in 2012 from WI through the Dakotas and Badlands and into Yellowstone then back via the Beartooth pass in MO and WY. It was epic! This was peak summer but the crowds weren't that bad at all.
