The center grill is about the same height as the side AUX radiators, just not the same width. I think just one extra grill cover is more than enough to cut and place in the sides. Once I get my g87 I can take a picture and tell you for sure. Unfortunately, it's not coming until November, so I'm trying to stock up on all these forum complaint issues now haha

Edit: Looking at the bumper from online pictures, you may have to remove the bumper to access the side AUX areas ugh 😑

Thinking of a CF Chinese option for the underside. It's $523. Mishimoto makes a steel version, but it's for the G80, so I'm not sure it would fit.

I actually pulled the trigger on the Mishimoto underbody panel. According to the Kies it fits the G87 now.

Hah. Cool. I read that too fast. My M2 is on its way to the dealer. I guess I’ll buy that grill mesh. Got Zunsport for my Cayman, Spyder, and M240. Hope RGS is a quality product like Zunsport produce. Cheers!

Haha all good! 😅 Nice!!! It's not a bad idea, it's cheap insurance. Only thing, is RGS uses zip ties, but their product looks and feels like solid build quality.

I just ordered a 2nd RGS mesh plate for the side coolers, and the Mishimoto plate for the underside.

Here are my 2 cents...zip ties? Thats the best one could design? With the heat from the motor and one's weather conditions (wont be a good option for weather here in S Florida), how long till the zip ties fail and what happens to the covers when they fail while driving? If investing in the cover, I would go the route of of the product that does not require zip ties.

I would also lay caution to make sure the covers dont impede on the necessary air flow.

You make a good point. If I end up needing to remove the front bumper for the side grill covers, I might as well just use epoxy for mounting these.

The proper way to do it is to take the bumper off and mount it from the inside. They also make stainless zip ties although I'm not sure what mounting points there are inside the bumper. But I'd rather just tie it down than use epoxy or screws.

Zip ties in our climate do not last long outdoors. They dry up, become brittle and break. The addition of the proximity to the motor (heat) would just add to the deterioration of the zip ties.

Yeah but metal zipped around "plastic" bumper material is also a bad recipe. I know some will have no issues usingbeither but if I am going to make any customization or fabrication such as this, I would be spending the little exptra to have it fabricated for proper installation.

I know the M2 is not a supercar, but its is for most a $70,000 plus investment (for a number of people, they have $80k - $90k plus in their cars) and why use a 79 cent part to make a half-assed improvement.

It's not like your ties would be some huge loops around the bumper. If there are proper mounting points, they would be small finger sized radius at most and you cut off the excess. The radiator and heat exchangers at each corner are not in direct contact with the bumper, they are inset and not anywhere near close enough to heat up or melt anything. I wouldn't think twice about using metal ties, just my 2¢.

Update: My insurance company was very informative. They said that a claim of this nature would not be comprehensive and it would result in increased premiums. Not worth it.

I have no doubt that this will happen to more people. It's pretty obvious. Your experience may vary from mine. My service advisor, service manager, and myself, had a long conversation about potential design flaws of the protection on the M2. My service manager has decided to do a one time good-will repair.

That means I will have to come up with a solution so this doesn't happen again. I appreciate all the input and comments here in this thread. This is a great community. I thank you all!
