The commission paid by the seller can be a tough pill to swallow for the effort they need to put in. Having said that I think what you're paying for is their access to buyers and other agents as well as making the transaction safe and smooth, I think your agent (if they're any good) will likely get you a bit more money when the back and forth part of the offer comes. You can also try to negotiate a lower commission with your listing agent some will knock a point off which can translate to a few grand in your pocket.
