I picked mine up for $80K Canadian (roughly $60K U.S.) in Jan 2020 brand new. It was sitting on the lot for 2 years. Sticker price was $115K. Soon as I saw the leaked image of the G80 (wasn’t a fan) I went down to the dealership and made them an offer. 😃

I just ordered a 25 and 2 weeks later talk of the m2 x drive surfaced.

But to your point, I can wait another 18 months, and the x drive is only rumoured.

While the cs will probably be out of my price range, if an x drive m2 comes out I will definitely be trading in the 25 for it

In my heart I couldn’t modify a CS, that thing is special and will be collectors item one day.
An x drive on the other hand, the ultimate platform to take full advantage of the ultimate engine being the S58.
After warranty I would do some simple mods to get to 700+ horsepower and destroy everything.
I believe the the x drive g87 has the potential to be a future halo car like the R34 GTR.
I can’t wait for my M2 and will cherish it forever, unless am x drive comes out at which point I will trade it in amd that will be my forever car

that’s why i went with the ZCP, the ADMs on the CS were insane when i was looking. the CS was a blast though

The CS will not have xDrive. The xDrive M2 will launch after CS production ends.

As someone that has owned two heavily modded 135i’s and now an F87 CS, these cars will never be considered Halo cars. Both the 1M and the F87 CS have been called the best driving BMWs of their respective time, but they aren’t really poster cars unless you’re a hardcore enthusiast.

The xDrive G87 won’t be rare enough, and if you’re just talking straight line speed, the game has changed since the GTR was king. 992 Turbo runs 10 seconds stock and any other modded non-SUV current M car is capable of the same or better for the drag strip. Of course, the Tesla plaid and other EV/hybrid setups will be pushing 9 second runs.

I agree, I wouldn’t mod a CS. For sure a modded G87 xDrive would be a super fun car, especially at the price point but 700+HP isn’t “destroy everything” numbers anymore. I still think the G87 is the best M car on sale today, I’m just trying to level set expectations. But I’m a nerd that would get the base G87 6MT and only modify the suspension.

No, a good portion of people see cars as a numbers game. The higher the number the better. And will chase that instead of the driving experience. So an M4 is better than an M2, a M5 is better than the M4, the M8 is the best. The higher the horsepower the better and with X Drive, you're able to put down crazy acceleration numbers from standstill, so there's more to brag about.
Of course when a new model comes out, they will buy that as well but if it doesn't have the numbers, it's traded in for another model that does, quickly. Even if it's a better driving experience because that's hard to brag about.
