Definitely think the G87 is an tribute to the E30, and recapturing all that made the original M E30 so special!

I finally got my first BMW - a 2015 M235i. Liked it a lot ... until the 2016 M2 came out. Instead of spending $25K to upgrade to the OG M2 with the same N55 engine, I went for a 2018 Camaro 2SS 1LE.

But finally, in 2021 I got my first real M car, the M2 Competition, and never looked back. Have a 2025 G87 on order now at status 155 Final Assembly. Hope to have it by late September!
Awesome story mate, thanks for sharing!

Yeah it has been great to hear of others patience and sacrifice to finally get their first M too! So nice to hear that so many of us have been on a similar path!

I love the F87 too mate! Post some pictures if you can.

Welcome! My first M Car as well but always wanted an M3 going back to the E36. I was looking at preowned G80 manuals when I heard about the G87 coming with the S58 and Manual transmission so I ordered one. I Decided on a new M2 vs a pre-owned G80 for same price and really like the idea of a 2 door, overall design and those hips and azz!

I came from mostly JDM car, bunch of Subarus…still have a pretty highly modified 2020 STi(love it) and a 6G Bronco 2 Door. All manuals and none very practical lol

Hahaha. Oh yeah!!!! Those hips and azz!
Could not have said it better myself!

But 100% agree that the G87 is a much better looking car than the G80!

My 2021 M2 Comp is Alpine White. My last 3 cars were white and I like it because it hides dirt and dust better than a dark color. But I'm due for a change, so the 2025 will be the original G87 launch color - Zandvoort Blue.

Drove an hour to a dealership that had one on the lot and I loved the color. It's a "loud" color compared to the common white, but my 2005 Mustang GT was Screaming Yellow, so it's not the first time choosing a color that can be polarizing and will attract attention.

I picked up a ZB 2024 M2 last month and absolutely love the color. I get more compliments than any car I have yet owned.

Congrats and enjoy!

A bit of torture, hahaha! BUT it’s worth the wait. I waited a year to get mine (from getting on my dealer’s list (pre-debut) to taking delivery). This forum was really helpful keeping me informed AND entretained during that time.

Thanks! The car is fantastic and with that scenery it just takes it to another level.

I have done a few cosmetic changes, cf air ducts, front and rear lip, replaced all badges with no-chrome outline badges, all black emblems, ceramic tints, puddle lights, ceramic coating, and a few other things like installing dash cam, swapping the brakes, etc. Sure you know about the infamous brake dust situation. 😅

I would suggest, in case is not already on your list, get the oil cooler and radiator protection. I got the Mishimoto skid plate and stradale design mesh, but there are other options out there.

Post here when you get your car

I love that colour too!
There are images and posts on you tube of a Zandvoort blue with champagne Edelweiss wheel and it looks phenomenal!!!
I wanted to copy that exact set up but I couldn’t find one at a dealership to see the colour in person.
So I was torn between the zandvoort blue and Brooklyn grey, and seriously couldn’t decide.
In the end I chickened out and choose the colour I did see in person and could confirm I liked.
But there still is this little voice in the back of my head saying “maybe I should of got the blue”.
Anyway, the point to this whole story is,,,, zandvoort blue is an amazing colour!
I love how it looks like one of the M tri colours.

Thanks mate!
I have heard about the brake dust issue, add to that how complex the wheels are, would definitely like to swap out the pads.
Can you make any recommendations?

Also across the oil cooler protection requirement, (while waiting for my M I think I have watched every single G87 you tube video on the inter-webs hahahaha)

I agree with you that I like the moshimotto one best I saw on Kies, and the stradale front grille I saw on daily down shift.
Still haven’t found a solution for the side vents though. Not really a fan of the look of the pop in zen sport ones.

And while I am pumping you for information, what tyres are you running in the rear? When I went for a test drive I couldn’t get bast 3/4 throttle without it getting loose, and that was with ps4s, albeit they were probably very cold.

Oh I am sure you are, as am I.
I saw a demo in the dealership with BG and gloss black wheels and fell in love with it.

To me it was the safe choice because I knew I loved it when I saw it.
Think it looks mean and very aggressive!

You have good taste my friend

I wish I could recommend the iSweep 2000 but overall I am dissapointed by their performance/bite. I shared my experience in the “life changing” thread about the iSweep 1500. Others have found other options they claim feels OEM.

Did you check Stradale design? they also offer a mesh for the side vents.

I am running the same and had a few scares when pressing the gas “aggresively”… 😅

I have the ZunSport radiator and oil cooler screens, and feel they're more than sufficient for daily driving on normal roads. If you'd feel more comfortable with a metal skid plate under the car, by all means pick one up.

Re: brake pads, I have the iSweep 1500s on both my M2 & wife's X3MC. They've been on her car for 15k mi & on my car for 10k mi. They feel no different than oem pads to me. I don't track either vehicle nor do I get my kicks stoplight racing. However, I do drive curvy country roads spiritedly & have had a few instances where I needed to stop immediately from ~80-85 mph, and the cars stops without issue.

I have the PS4S and can launch the car with or without traction control without much, if any wheel spin. Every so often if I floor it from 1st or 2nd (auto, trans set to D2 or D3), the rear end will kick out, but it's easily manageable. Just takes more time with the car learning how it behaves.

It’s really nice to see that there are a lot of us that have had the same passion, goal, and eventual success in getting our M car!!!
Quick question though, how can I reply to a post on here?!
Using my phone and I can’t see an obvious way to reply to a specific post!
Just food for thought, have a look at PPF protection for your new G87. As a fellow Sydneysider I had my car wrapped at OzziCozzi Artarmon, the peace of mind it provides certainly outweighs the cost. For the record I had the bonnet, front facia, headlamps, external mirror covers, carbon fibre roof (as this cannot be repaired), the rear guards and bottom portion of car that runs from the front guards to the rear guards. All up cost me $AU2,900.00. I had my last two cars wrapped by them, they being a 2017 Range Rover followed by a 2021 Porsche, both cars were sold without a stone chip.

Cheers
John

Thanks John.
Yes I have been looking into it.
I got a few quotes to get the whole car done and the prices are around $6500.
Love the idea of getting it wrapped to protect the brand new paint, just a big expense after I have paid for the car and got the insurance.
I guess it comes down to how the bank balance looks after I pick it up.
But thanks for the business recommendation!

@T-Rexx - Congratulations & welcome to the club. A G78 M2 is a mighty great way to enter this new chapter & we're all very confident you'll have zero regrets. I'm on my 5th M car & after having a few Mustangs & fast SVT products from FORD. I'm definitely glad I made the switch & never looked back. Still wish I had saved the 2004 SVT COBRA though. These are well built machines that are track ready & very capable on the street.

Thanks mate I will give those pads a go, and maybe when I get my car (providing I win the tyre lottery) I might have a better understanding how to get the ps4s to perform optimally. More so than I did on the 10 minutes test drive. Sounds promising though!

Thank you Mr Clean, very nice of you to say!
And I am absolutely certain I will have no complaints! I have been dreaming of an M car since I was 12 years old and lusted over every new M3 model that came out since.

That is an impressive history of cars mate!
My dad is a Ford man, and I grew up in the back seat of Ford falcon GT’s, which is Australia’s version of performance Fords.

Curious to hear more about your 5 M’s, and what is your current one?
