As I said, replace tires and come back to tell us.
I like a good debate ☺️

To take your philosophy, you believe all tyres are created equally… so why do some wear quicker than others, why are some not suitable for higher speeds, why do some stop better in better conditions, what about race tyres, etc…

Clearly WE… by which I mean the rest of us are wrong!

I don’t mind being wrong, provided I am supplied with sufficient fact, evidence… if you will to support your case, I love to learn.

Teach me, help me, help us, prove us wrong, I want to learn and not waste money.

Outside of aesthetics and brand name the difference is marginal at best. I have never seen a comparison between the Yoko and PS4S but given the PS4S has been out for nearly 8 years at this point we’re not exactly talking about a new tire.
I take your point, BMW aren’t just gonna throw a budget tyre on an M car, so your theory is sound.

I like the 4S, it’s provided 18 months of solid driving, no complaints, hoped I’d get a set on my new M2. Didn’t, asked for advice and got plenty, which I appreciate so thank you to all ☺️

If you decide to keep it then drive it around for a while and get to know it. I am sure that the Yokes will be fine.
Love this, so thank you.

You make a valid point, I appreciate the concern, was considering the suspension months ago, car came a little earlier than anticipated and life (other factors) happened, so considering financing 0% for a few months realistically to get past a very much unexpected hurdle.

But you make a solid case, will most certainly be keeping the car, regardless, car and deal way too strong to turn down.

I appreciate the honesty, again thank you 🙏

The Michelin pilot sport 4S ⭐️ star tire is the best road tire you can buy for BMW

Nothing else really comes close

Not yet anyway

As it is incorrect to say an off the shelf PS4S is the same as a star spec PS4S.
If you agree these are different, then you can’t defend a position that non-star spec tires are comparable.

All M2s come with star spec tires. I’m saying that they should perform the same way. Any claim to the contrary needs proof.

I think if you think the same way, your anxiety goes away.
It seems like you’re choosing to create a fantasy world where these tires perform differently out of thin air, and that fantasy is making you feel anxious about your tires. Does that make sense to you? If it does, then nothing will change your mind.

Going to extremes in the discussions is a straw man (like saying some tires are more track focused and others more wet focused, we’re not comparing Camry tires with M2 tires here, only star spec).

I do enjoy a good debate too, and I’m sorry if I’m a bit too forward, but I really dislike this “tire lottery” BS and I think it needs to die.

I reached out to Tyre Reviews on YouTube asking him to compare the star spec tires, but of course he may not have that opportunity.

AFAIK, none of us will have that opportunity. So how can we ever say that one tire is better, thereby maintaining this tire lottery speculation?
I get where you are coming from and appreciate your time to explain.

I do take your point, I’m certainly not an expert, nor do I claim to be.

I, like most people will read, article after article, review after review, it can be difficult to determine what is biased, what is bullsh*t and what is fact.

In the end I can only ask for advice, absorb, make my own decision and whatever I decide is on me.

Thank you.

Unless the car is paid off, seems silly to mod it. I think it’s prudent to get a car paid off before making any upgrades, now in 10,000 miles when the tires are smoked by all means replace them that’s a just normal maintenance.

There's a reason MPS4S continues to dominate and consistently comes on top against other newer tire brands in testing. Michelin are simply the best in the business, nothing new here. Now imagine what the 4S successor will be capable of.

The S5 the successor of the 4S is something I can only dream about… ❕

Everything else is speculation or fanboyism.

More power to you, but you (the owner) are anxious about what you got. Not a good place to be.

And with all due respect to ///M TOWN as I like him, he has no skin in the game because he doesn’t have an M2. I do root that if you do get one one day, it comes with Michelin tires, so it tickles your fancy
Not anxious… just like the tyre I already have on the outgoing M240i, served me well.

I could be pleasantly surprised with the Yokohama, I certainly hope I am, hope the star rating is the only factor, I don’t mind being proven wrong.

Time will tell, approx 1180 miles till the run in service.

I’d pay to see it.
I think a lot of people would.

Thanks for your patience in listening.

I really think non-factual speculation is negative for our community. And there’s lots here, the tire lottery being one.

Cheers
I appreciate honestly, first and foremost.

It can be difficult to understand context/intent when reading online messages, there is no audio, no body language.

So easy to misconstrue someone’s good intentions.

I really liked these discussions 👍

Sorry, but you didn't research any of this before spending $70,000+ on a car?

The demo had M Race Track Pack and BMW M Performance Parts, thought they were just cosmetic, didn’t realise it had the coilover kit and tyres were P Zero.

The test drive blew me away so I bought one.
