That said, you're right that I think every video out of this event is just hype. It's not like Joe was an outlier here. I just feel like all of his videos are an eye roll since like a year+ ago. I know I'm in the minority. /rant |

I like Joe but I am jot dumb enough to think the dude is not in bmws pockets.
When he said that the car had an excellent gearbox for example, we all know the manual box on latest crop of bmws is ok at best, excellent is not the word to describe it. That said not mad at him, I enjoy his content and he seems like a good dude but yeah when you compare that content with a proper car channel like savage geese its like a tabloid vs a real newspaper |

There is nothing wrong with this type of marketing... its just very offputting to people who aren't dumb.

Where did you read or hear it was heavier than a M4? Only thing I've read from multiple sources was it's slightly heavier than the M2C but lighter than the M4 RWD and M240i Xdrive
"I can't tell you how much it weighs, because BMW wouldn't confirm that, but I did lever out of the engineers that it's heavier than previous M2 but lighter than both the rear-wheel-drive M4 and M240i xDrive." https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-...h-review/45792 "We're told that technology creep and additional structural rigidity will bring a small increase in curb weight compared with the last M2 CS, which weighed 3544 pounds on our scales." https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...ototype-drive/ https://www.bmwblog.com/2022/06/14/2...m2-g87-weight/ |

This car is gonna look so much better IRL than it will in pics. When I first saw the G42, I thought it was kinda fugly until I saw a M240i in person. Imo side by side, the G42 hands down looks better, more modern and more aggressive than the F22. I think it's gonna be the same story for the G87 and F87

I leave my comments on design on the actual reveal as a brand I would hope BMW would not disappoint the crowd. |

Like you mentioned, it has a nice side profile which looks more sporty. And because the F and G series are right around the same height, I think the longer hood provides a better overall balance to the stance because I've always felt the F87 looks like it sits a bit too high which gives it sort of a stubby appearance |

For whatever reason, BMWs current design language does not photograph well. The design elements are still polarizing, but usually look better in person. The G80 looks way better in person, for example.

But in a picture the visual perspective is small. So in comparison everything looks big, especially the grille.

This horse has been beaten to death already, repeatedly.
There is no difference in the quality of the product. BMW M products have been made in Spartanburg without issue and there are no issues with South African production either. The M340i and M240is made in SLP have no known issues either. It's the newest facility and presumably has the most automation. Last edited by chris719; 06-16-2022 at 05:46 PM.. |

All I'm saying is there is no reason to believe the car will be any worse due to where it's produced. Last edited by chris719; 06-16-2022 at 05:50 PM.. |

I would prefer a German built BMW either way. Never had an issue.

My G20 was perfectly built boring cruiser. Had it for 9 months and zero build issues. The F87 had complete brakes replaced at 2000 miles to fix shaking between 40 and 65mph braking issues from brand new (picked it up with 005 on ODO). Some rattling too… |

My G05 X5 40i, custom built with air suspension and with all bells and whistles, made in America came with a bent control arm, and has creaks everywhere. I don't want the dealer to open my dashboard so I'm living with the noises but I did get the bent suspension components fixed. It was never driven being custom built and only had 3-4 miles when I purchased it. It also had the fender trim twisted (the plastic piece on top of the wheel arch) and that was fixed under warranty too. Like I said you can argue both ways. But it's a BMW, and I would *prefer* that it is sealed with a "Made in Germany" tag. Not saying that I won't buy "Made in Mexico" built BMWs. I do own a X5 which is non-German built.
