I read that wrong, my bad. That would be pretty light if true. I'm not sure but the G series moonroof looks larger, at least it does in my M240

3900+ lbs
They are clearly embarrassed about its weight (as they should be) conveniently left off spec sheets. https://www.whichcar.com.au/reviews/...3ck8fHa.S3fpgi |

Perhaps they calculate vehicle weight differently in Australia. Similar to how Curb Weight, DIN and EU all use different methods to calculate the weight of a vehicle for different regions. The bigger question to me (if true) is how did they get those figures? BMW is hush hush about everything with any new car and if that info was actually leaked would be a big F'n deal to them.

And in regards to how they calculate weight doesn’t really matter when he says this (bigger car being an M4)
“The bigger car does however retain a 35kg weight advantage” It does sound completely crazy though if it’s over 100 lbs heavier than the Xdrive M240i… |

So, I checked BMWs Australian site for an M4 RWD and it looks like they use EU weight measurements which is why the car shows as 1,775kg or 3,913 lbs. The EU weight factors in 75kg for passengers and luggage. If we look at the DIN weight it's actually 1,700kg or 3,748 lbs. The USA site shows the Curb Weight for the M4 RWD as 3,830 lbs. If the numbers are legit we can just subtract 35kg or 77 lbs from the Curb Weight which would total 3,753 lbs for the G87. For reference the Curb Weight of the M240i xDrive is 3,871 lbs on the USA site, a difference of 118 lbs which is right in line with what I kind of expected the G87 to weigh. You can do the same for the DIN weight, subtracting 35kg comes out to 1,665kg or 3,671 lbs. For the EU weight it comes out to 1,740kg or 3,836 lbs. Remember, the DIN/EU numbers also include the extra weight of the particulate filters which NA cars don't get. We all knew the G87 was going to be a porker, but being a larger car than an F87, if it's only gained ~150 lbs I could live with that.

I didnt see that in "that" article.
"The bigger car does however retain a 35kg weight advantage, which is largely due to a mix of pricier and more exotic low-calorie materials. Although homologation is not yet complete, the M2 will tip the scales at 1810kg, sources say" I assumed Bigger Car means the dimensionally larger one eg. M4 |
