All the people I know in real life who are car guys like how it looks, maybe you should get off of the cesspool that is YouTube comments

The Supra looks very aggressive, turns heads everywhere. A bit polarizing, but it has the dimensions of a sports car (and of course an incredible engine).

The BMW 2's aren't even close to as sporty looking (they have backseats even). Show a photo of the Supra and any 2 Series to your average Joe and they will pick the Supra 4/5. Show it to a gal and it will be 9/10. I've tested this extensively with friends and family to get additional opinions. Of course on a BMW forum more will like the BMW, but in the real world, it's just not as sporty by nature compared the the Supra, Z, Porsche, etc. with just 2 seats.
I won't argue that the Supra feels more sporty to drive (compared to the G42, tbd compared to the G87). It has the footprint, power and weight you'd want in a fun to drive car. As far as looks, I think certain aspects of it looks nice while others don't. Like the shape and profile, don't like some design details such as the front end and the "sea monster" looks

Even if you Spec the Carbon roof you can also get lighter wheels for the G82 making it even lighter. The Manual G82 is around 3700 Pounds vs. 3900 pounds for the Manual G87. For whatever reason its a lot heavier. I think the Grille Controversy has faded drastically and no longer the issue it was, especially since there's more aftermarket versions coming out. Unless you just love the look of the new M2 I don't see the benefit of it over an M4 like the previous gen.

Those weight figures are not the advertised ones, not sure where you pulled those from. They are both listed as ~1700kg = 3750 lbs. The m4 has standard carbon roof as opposed to sun roof (+50lbs) and forged wheels as opposed to cast (+~40lbs). Ipso facto if you throw forged wheels on the m2 and option the carbon roof it is 100 lbs lighter than the m4 while being shorter.

Only people who have owned and lived with 'M' cars get it. You don't get it from riding in one with your bro, driving one 'one time' and poo poo'ing it, etc etc.

Either you've had the series car as a daily, and then the M, or you just don't get it. You can't. Period.

It's as stark a difference as a real Xmas tree vs a fake one lol.

3,900lbs for a manual G87? Where did you get that figure from?

I have to agree. M cars are in a different class than regular BMWs. Handling and performance is always better. I would get an M2 over an M240i any day.

I mean, were we excepting F87 with interior from G80/G82?

I'm seeing weight from 3818 to 3900 pounds where are you seeing 3750? Also not sure why you think I "hate" a car. You know people can have opinions and not "hate" something right? I realize the quickest defense in discussion is calling somebody a "hater". It's a car it's not that serious. I'm also not loyal to any car brand. I don't have stock in BMW. Do you? Why are you so defensive.

M2 Specs 1700kg

M4 Specs 1700kg

It's in the official spec sheet released by BMW, 1700kg for the manual g87 same as the identical spec sheet for the m4. I wrote something else disputing me calling you a hater but I get that these specs are hard to find, it's a nightmare trying to google it. I had previously found these sheets so I knew 100% that the weight was the same.

Once again with the shorter wheelbase and the low hanging fruit of the carbon roof and forged wheels able to reduce the weight to well below the m4 I still think the m2 will be a more dynamic drivers car.

I don't love the new M2 but the G82 M4 is hideous. Looks like a Mustang but less iconic and with an uglier grill.

I just did a quick search and pulled from the site that came up but either way the car will be a beast it's just ugly IMO.FYI I think the M4 is ugly too and will be getting a G80 either way.

Yeah, googling weight figures for cars is a nightmare. Journalists just take a random figure and roll with it. Doesn't matter to them as long as it gets clicks. I hope you enjoy your controversial m3 and I'll enjoy my controversial m2

Misha's video had the G42 on scales and weighed 1716kg with they said half a tank of fuel. (@21:30 mark of video). And that was with XDrive and of course auto.

How much weight saved did they say with the RWD?? 150lb (68kg)??

What's interesting is the official release specs has the M4 w/ manual weighing around 3,800lbs when there are plenty of examples of it weighing around 3,700lbs with almost a full tank of gas.

BMWUSA is listing the weight at 3,814lbs w/ the automatic. So with the CF roof and a manual, it should be around 3,700lb. Wonder if the G87 might even be lighter than that based on the M4 being lighter than what BMW specs say
