Nothing is currently coming that quickly from the plant in Mexico to the U.S. VPCs and then onto Centers. Shipping is still bottlenecked. Late Feb to early March is reasonable if nothing improves on the logistical side.

So you think it will be later than the April launch for the US?

BMW AG publicly announced that the G87 launch will take place in April of 2023, doubtful that is for the world. U.S. and Canada could be March and EU in April. Just a guess. Last edited by T_U_D; 06-12-2022 at 10:44 PM.. |

Okay, on the same page then... G80/G82 was a Nov SOP with March Launch so them saying an April launch with Dec SOP makes sense. Shipping Jan/Feb plus being held up to coordinate the launch for April. @asap was suggesting we might not see them in the US until the summer.

I saw an automatic as well as the manual in the pics so perhaps we will be getting M2C at launch and not just the base model.

I do believe those seats in the Base manual car are the actual standard M2 seats. They are the same seats the M240 gets in the US, but with alcantara inserts and M2 embossed in leather upper. OG M2-like seats. If true, BMW seems to be trying to keep the base price down(which is a good thing). |

I'm really hoping the comp model also comes in a 6MT. I really do not want the ZF tranny in my next M car.

Speaking of CS models and other variants, no word on the new M2 naming convention. But our own sources say that the new “Baby-M” will come to market with just the M2 badge. It’s unclear whether there will be room for an M2 Competition or the M wizards will simply bring out the big guns: the M2 CS and the fan favorite M2 CSL. https://www.bmwblog.com/2022/06/12/2023-bmw-m2-review/ |

Amazing, can't wait. I'd better start saving now, would imagine the price is not going to be too far off 150k AUD

Start of production in Mexico is 12/22. So you guys in the US are getting them first.

It is plausible that the M2 is already anticipating squarer, simpler shape headlights for the entire LCI 2er Coupé range, without yet receiving them itself as the LCI is still too far out. Indeed this is likely the LCI M2 bumper that's already being used on the pre-LCI, with squarer cutouts adapted to squarer headlights (more consistent with the M2's square air intakes underneath and boxy fenders, and allowing preemptive cost-saving), but that requires for an extra piece (black or body color fake vent?) to fill in that empty corner on the pre-LCI headlights
Such LCI headlights would therefore resemble the i3's: Same story with the taillights, which have that extra piece of housing that's been left for no apparent reason on the pre-LCI but seem like they're in fact already primed to receive a new pair of simpler, more minimalistic shape taillights at LCI, as suggested by the 2er sketches Simpler, more basic shape LCI headlights and taillights eventually replacing the wavy pre-LCI ones would make sense on the 2er, further emulating that old-school, back to the roots, compact 3-box coupé spirit the 2er Coupé still embodies (impervious to current trends, since it's pretty much without direct competition on the market) Last edited by advantage20; 06-13-2022 at 11:31 AM.. |
