The G87 already has a carbon roof, revised suspension (EDC), and seats from a G82. What's left really? A carbon transmission tunnel, wheels and tires, a tune, and lowering springs? And a lip and a different trunk based on the leaked pictures. I suppose there's always CCBs as well.
My G87 was $76K and some change. I would assume there's maybe $20K in up charging for the CS with a $10K option for CCBs.
So $96K base, $106K will all options.
On second thought yes that makes sense. 2020 f87 M2CS MSRP was $85k starting. So +$10k plus options

Fair enough.. you know how it is with reading texts, we insert our own intonation which can change the meaning… I’ve seen too many people getting needlessly stomped on here, including myself, and that’s why I took it the wrong way.. I do see the bit of humour in this situation with a new model repeating itself but i still believe what I said to be true mainly because it is exactly the reason I didn’t choose to upgrade to the F87 CS from my comp and I still believe I made the right choice. My only criteria that would make me want to upgrade or get a newer model is a major body redesign or a new drivetrain… of course if I had money to spare I’d just not think about it and do it but nobody who’s wealthy got there by throwing away money

"Substantial" is used loosely I presume.

M4 CSL is still a porker.

I don't see them taking 200lbs out of a Comp Automatic M2.

I'm also guessing this car won't be available with a stick (I hope I'm wrong).

Really looking forward to the M2cs and have deposit on one.

The big issue for me is the horrible sound. I just don’t get why BMW can’t make these cars sound good. They never fixed the S55 sound and this S58 is even quieter with no character. A 911 GTS which is twin turbo sounds decent so it can be done.

What’s the point in speculating on weight, price, power, etc? I mean really what good is accomplished? So you can say, I told you so? What benefit does that serve the community? Just my thoughts.…. Carry on

No stomping, hating, or criticizing. Take everything on the internet with humor. Those that don’t intend humor aren’t worth your time. Those that attempt humor and fail already know because their wife says so. Often.

Good Q. Pricing is shameful and only appeals to rich collectors who never drive their cars. Results in upcharging and increased difficulty finding one. This type of car has always been developed for enthusiasts like early day M3s, previous e90 1series, 335s & M3s owners …1M fans ..etc. However, we’re priced out as usual and don’t get to touch these smaller, road track based bimmers. Pains me. For example, we enthusiasts can buy used e9* M3s up and down. Have you seen any used F87 M2s?!! Not like we see e9* and earlier gens after 20-60k miles. That’s bc these dam rich collectors ..and BMW co just cater to them.. M8, M6, esp the M5 …now M4s too. Give me a break

Like I said “carry on”

Everyone is here to share and learn but based on the comments in the thread someone needs to look up the definition of “enthusiastic.“

It’s a real bummer for sure. Both the S55 and S58 have unequal length exhausts, although the S58 is closer to being equal. It’s not clear if BMW is prioritizing packaging over sound or if they truly think the “unique” sound they created is good.

Edit: I know there are “fixes” for this on the market, but they don’t have the development and refinement a true OEM solution would provide. For example, the loss of secondary cats and resonators on the S55 creates some undesirable resonance and volume at certain rpms.

I have a deposit in as well and assume they’ll address this. I have to say I enjoy the various intonations of my z4m40 v my g80cx, and there’s less fake noises happening.

I must be one of the only ones that likes the sound of the S55.

History says that here in Europe dealers are struggling again to sell the M3 CS and dozens of them are being put on showrooms with huge discounts on the list price, just as happened with the M4 CSL, M5 CS, M2 CS, M4 CS. And in the used market the interest is close to 0, they are all depreciating more than normal M's (compared to the list price).
I hope Bmw has learnt and doesn't miss the mark again.

BMW has learnt and will not do a single thing differently

They will make their money and don't care if the cars depreciate to zero; they've made their money and they're happy

Not sure the dealers and the owners are as happy
And it will certainly not be 2000 M3 CS that will boost Bmw's profits.

Whilst everything you say is true, and undeniable, obviously BMW keeps pumping them out so there must be a reason

Apparently you are not familiar with goes into a CS model by BMW. It’s ok tho.. you and many others in the “Ill add a couple of carbon bits and a tune and I’ll have something just as good”. Good luck with that.

And I'm happy about that, since CSs are the best Bmws on sale and by far the best cars in their respective classes (assuming you can find a real competitor), and I'm sure the G87CS will be as good.
Just a bit overpriced in my opinion
