29 here (was 28 when I got it), -got the car to be able to have fun in a manual RWD car every day, even driving to the office. I would probably go for something older, more raw, but needed something reliable

I’m 41 and this is my first ever brand new car I’ve ordered. Previously owned a 330i (e46) which I bought used when I was 22 years old. Realized I was spending all my disposable income on that car, so traded down to a further used 318i (e36) and loved that car for many years. Then drove used Prius for a number of years and saved money the whole time in the hopes of one day ordering a car I really wanted again.
Here I am now and ready to receive the new M2 and hoping it will be everything I want in a car. No kids so the two doors works great, practical trunk for daily driver duties and still has tons of leg room in the car as I’m 6’6”. That is one thing I always loved on the BMW; they always had plenty of leg room for me in the drivers seat.

23. I've always wanted a small sports car that also isn't going devour gas like a V8 (although I'd love to own one someday). Plus, I'm in a super fortunate position where I can buy this car in cash. So why not?

I’ll be 34 next month, expecting delivery of my M2 in 4-5 weeks.
Previously, all of my cars have been E46’s. 2000 323i 2001 325ci 2001 M3 convertible 2004 M3 coupe I tend to keep cars for a long time, and expect to do the same with my M2. This will be my first ever new car purchase, even including my wife’s cars. After selling BMW’s for the last six years, I think I’ve earned this for myself. |

I always wanted a M3 ever since I saw the first one in the late 80s. I was actually stationed in Germany at the time and it just wasn’t something I could afford. I feel like the M2, finally, is a real M car and this time could afford one. I was 58 when I got it last year and have put just over 8100 miles on it in a year. I’m hopeful I continue to keep it into retirement until I’m no longer allowed to drive lol. It shares the garage with my 2018 911 GTS that I also hope to keep. I feel fortunate to just have these two special cars and don’t really need a bigger stable.

Also 43. Seems to be a magic number on this thread.
I have a brand new X3 M50 for the family but liked the M2 because it was both a serious sports car and something I could use daily if desired. I've driven sporty Audis for the previous decade (S3, S4) and the M2 is a giant step up. |

Just turned fiddy. Had beaters and borrowed cars (all manuals) until I was 30 and bought a 350z. Had sporty manual cars ever since, mostly modified Subaru STis and still have my 2020 STi, 21 2 door Bronco Badlands, both manuals. I got the M2 because I was looking at preowned g80 manuals when I saw that they released the g87 and I could get the s58 in a NEW manual car for the same price as a preowned M3. Always liked M cars and the newer turbo potential with just some downpipes and a tune. Natural progression from modified JDM cars but I still love my STi

I'm 46. I've had numerous German cars over the years from Audi, BMW, and Porsche.
For the past 3-4 years we have been EV only, but I wanted to buy a manual transmission car before they go away permanently. My son who is 15 loves classic BMWs and is interested in learning how to drive a manual. So the M2 seemed to be the sweet spot. My dream was to custom order a new 911, but Porsches have exploded in cost over the past 5 years. The M2 seemed to be the best option under $100k. My hope is to keep this car for many years (or decades) as one of the last manual transmission cars. Maybe my son will inherit the car from me. |

Picked up my F87C when I was 37, just before my birthday. I'm ordering in January 2025 for a april/may/whatever delivery. So I will be 42/43.

36. Upgraded from the '22 m240 auto so I could have a manual after driving a mk7 2-door Golf 5 speed since 2014.
Grew up in a VW family. Audi doesn't make a wagon I can afford, VW has cost cut their vehicles into the ground, so BMW felt like the natural evolution when I was ready to upgrade.

60 and this M2 is BMW number 19 for me... had many different models, mostly M's for a period of 25+ years, took a 6-year hiatus from BMW and had a lot of fun with two different Lotus Evora but after buying my 2020 X3M Comp about 6 months ago, decided to come back to BMW and traded the Evora GT for the M2... so far so good!!

I’ll be 40 when mine arrives. I’ve been driving manuals since I was a teenager and knew I would regret it if I didn’t buy one last new 6 speed before they went the way of the dinosaurs.
