J/K. I like flavorful eggs. The hens at my favorite egg place have been 'on strike' this winter, per the farmer, so I have been desperately looking for their equal. Haven't found them yet. |

We also ate blood pudding and head cheese... Earlier this year, a Metro open 5 minute away, now we can get all of those goodies! |

My second ex-wife's parents used to serve that for breakfast.....I didn't care for it....reminded me of dog food.

After having my doctor yank my amateur racing hobby out from under my feet, trust me when I say that it is a struggle on most days not to do a belly flop into the Hudson River from the bridge.
Probably 60 calories tops, but I need the lubrication to get the veggies down on some mornings. Do you want to freak out a hospital nutritionist? Get admitted with a diabetic diet, no carbs, no sodium, and fluid restricted diet, who doesn't eat seafood, eggs, or any sort of artificial sweetener. Their order tablet software just throws in the towel for breakfast, and in all seriousness will not accept veggies even as an over-ride with doctor's approval. I did get a laugh out of one morning's technical mistake though, where the tablet actually accepted a breakfast order of corned beef hash and three strips of bacon...when I was in the CCU! Half the time, the nutritionist just skipped my room on his/her order-gathering rounds rather than deal with my exceptions hassle. They would send a tray of eggs and toast, and be met at the door by a nurse who would refuse the tray from afar so that they wouldn't have to clean the vomit from my bed again if I saw the contents. The greatest secret of hospitals at least in our area are the refrigerators at every nurse's station. They are stocked daily with turkey sandwiches on whole wheat, and they beat starvation especially when someone spitefully tags you as NPO for days in the nutrition computer. Oh, and I'm 100% serious about steamed veggies being my breakfast for 6-7 years now.....

2 scrambled eggs with salsa, toast with butter and honey in the comb, water and coffee.
Toast is usually bread I baked from scratch. This week's loaf is semolina. Rye is next up in the baking sequence. Last edited by chassis; 03-14-2021 at 10:17 AM.. |

I try to mix Fiber One honey clusters with Smart Start, a banana and pint or so of blueberries about 4-5 times a week. Some Raisin Bran once in a while. I try to start the day healthy because it’s all downhill from there. Something more indulgent on Sundays like French toast, pancakes or a cheese omelette with bacon and toast. Worse when we’re in Asheville.

This morning I cooked up some scrambled eggs with onion, garlic, black pepper, Lawry’s Salt, and cheese. Avocado and salsa over on a tortilla. Wash it down with black coffee and NOW I’m ready to mow the grass.

This thread inspired me to whip up some scrambled eggs with cheese, sausage patties, and potatoes this morning. And coffee, of course. Oof. Now I need to work it off rowing and riding for a while.

A couple of days ago I did my morning run in light spandex. Today I looked like the Michelin man...-14°C.

I've heard of studies that say cold pizza is better than most "traditional" breakfasts. I know I've had many cold pizza mornings and it hasn't killed me yet.
