It's a matte finish, but I'm gonna wrap it in gloss PPF so it matched the rest of the pieces (can be painted, too). $270.

I hadn't seen this one from maxton, just the other style. Thanks for the heads up.

Appreciate the heads-up, need to see installation with the use of Mishimoto plate in place.

I have the Zunsport mesh grille - it's way smaller, made more to simply fit over the cooler & is very lightweight. When I get the car and eventually the lip, I will post pics before/after install of the lip.

A lot of folks are questioning/concerned about drilling their bumpers for the install of Maxton's stuff, so I also plan on looking into installing using any OEM spots I can. Would rather drill into the lip, but I am really not to concerned about drilling anything BMW hidden from view. But, will be keeping it all in mind.

Sucks we gotta wait until June, but - I will definitely follow up on my own build thread.

The Lightweight pieces are 3/4" CNC routed ABS and super rigid, these are a real race part intended to take abuse from the track. The only comparable unit on the market is the one offered from AC Schnitzer. Hold the lip on its edge and it remains rigid - not a bit of flex.

You can't compare the two unless you've seen both in person. In all fairness, the Maxton really isn't even a valid comparison as it's a completely different design, and as they use a very soft/flexible compound, not very durable at all. It's almost a rubber texture that you can actually dig a fingernail into. Hold the lip on it's edge and it'll bend over and touch the ground, the material used is very pliable. But they're cheap and that's what makes them attractive.

In the end, you get what you pay for. We've even uninstalled a couple of Maxtons that ended up melting in during Summer heat and eventually upgraded to Lightweight lips.

Update on my lightweight performance splitter (this is my car above):

I have smacked this thing, scratched it, and scraped on driveways. Literally 0 damage done to the lip. 0 scratches on the finish also.

It’s not just plain plastic- it’s a super light weight and durable blend of a bunch of materials. I would have anhialated any CF lip by now if I had it on.

It is steep pricing, I do agree. But when you think of how many lips you’d have to replace, I think it makes sense if it fits in your budget.

Shipping to the U.K is sooo expensive! Are there any uk retailers?

Love the subtlety of this one, it completes the front end!

What I want to know. Is it a real aero lip that been tested for downforce when on track uses. and at what speed will it have affect. and if so, do we have to balance it with rear wing?

or is it just show piece. like all others lips.

I completely agree with Geighty. I've scraped mine several times as well and the lip looks perfect from the top/front. Minor scratches on the underside. It's a really solid lip.

Thanks. Tom posted pics of your car and I happened to be driving up to EAS a few days after to install KW HAS. I had them add the lip while I was there thanks to you

It's been a busy week with trying to get all the parts installed this being one of them . I love the solid fit and finish and it helps cosmetically tie in the middle area.

This. worldwide shipping is excessively expensive ($4xx usd). would have ordered if there is a more reasonable shipping option.

tom @ eas Does the Mishimoto guard require longer screws for the LW lip (I seem to recall it does)? If so, and I order the guard through you guys, can you provide the longer screws?

Yes, we have specific hardware for those running the Mishimoto skidplates. This can be selected upon checkout (or mention when ordering by phone)

How easy is it to install? The G80/82 installation video looks pretty involved (can't just drive up a ramp and bolt it on)

Same for G87?

Installation method is identical for M2. The video shows a lot of additional steps that aren't needed.

Pretty much just drive it up on a ramp and bolt on. The lip uses all OEM mounting points, no modifications are necessary.

+1 I originally bought a Maxton lip for the G80 b/c is was cheap and simple in design. It arrived and the mounting instructions left a lot to be desired and you needed to drill into the bumper to fit it. I sold it before I ever tried to install it.

Now I have the Lightweight front lip (got it from you guys) that I had painted gloss black and I'm way happier with it. Bolted right up using stock mounting points and hardware. Super sturdy lip, too. Really glad I went this route. YMMV.
