We may wanna keep these great increases a little more quiet as to not spook BMW and cause them give us cars with the real advertised horsepower and not underrated figures like right now.

UK 99 RON with max 5% ethanol content (Tesco m99 and Shell V Power) are more dependable being higher grade fuels, period. So, in combination with OPF. delete, no wonder why s58 thrives and responds so well with a tune and even moreso when a splash of Ethanol is added to for a blend ca 104/105 RON with relatively low eXX numbers 😉

From my Caterham dyno sessions Petro Can 94 can take a degree or so more advance than Shell 93 (which now typically tests to 10% ethanol anyway), I do ensure my target Lambda is hit (0.86 at torque peak and tapering off somewhat either side) by adjusting fuel flow to the relevant ethanol content, though. This is on a 2.0 litre naturally aspirated engine making 260bhp at 8,000RPM (212bhp at the wheels), so detonation is an important factor. I have the current timing set to use 93AKI, so I can run Shell 93 or Petro Can 94, neither have given any issues with 2,000km of hard track use this summer, with the plugs pulled after every track day. If the police see that it has been removed then you could get a $22000 AUD fine. And having owned many significantly modifies cars in the past, I would just rather not have the hassles of being defected by the police or my car impounded, or diving nervously always looking in my mirrors. Given that the M2 is a $135,000 car, I am trying to have the reliability and usability of a prestigious sports car, but tune/modify it just to get a bit more out of it without running the risk of significant penalties. So I will be looking at high flow cats, and retain the OPF, some bolt ons and tune for E30/50. Giving me a fast car without the fear of big problems. |

Like for like adding 5% more ethanol to UK SVP99 would bump it beyond 102 RON. Anyways, UK ditching OPF blockage in oem exhaust and decent base fuel gets yr s58 to 700+ CHP

In the past OEM base fuel maps didn’t take E10 fuel into account and were slow with adaptive mapping to build long term trim maps, causing initial lean mixtures (for example 0.90 lambda instead of optimal 0.86 on an NA engine under full load), leading to timing being pulled when knock was detected. The speed of adaption for different ethanol content (without an ethanol sensor) is a lot better now. The alternative is to use Alpha-N tuning and open loop for high load sites and add 6% fuel compared with use for E0. This will allow ethanol variation up to E15 without timing being pulled, with trims in closed loop adapting down to E0 if used, instead of adapting up to E10 for E0 base maps. |

Not sure what the point of this thread is.
In the UK, as soon as you remove the GPF / OPFs the car isn’t road legal, so kinda useless to anyone unless it’s a dedicated track / race car and trailered to and from the track. Those number plates need to come off. |
