Awesome qualifying. Ferraris are finally being competitive. I have 2 questions, so feel free to comment:
- Why pole position is not on the side of the first curve??? I've noticed that on the last few tracks, so guess all are like that. I'd rather start in 2nd myself. With the cars so close performancewise, it's pretty hard to clear the 2nd car by the curve if both start at the same time; pole is only about half a car length, right? And if you don't do just that, you risk experiencing what Vettel did last race if you try to hold your position. - What are drivers looking at on the monitors in front of them when sitting in their cars? Porn? Hope Vettel wins tomorrow in his home town. After last race, he deserves it. Whoever gets to that first curve first has 90% of the race won (or thereabouts). Pretty technical track. Oh, and glad it's the last freaking race on POS Fox . |

1) There are only a couple of reasons why they might start on the 'outside' of turn #1. If it is a long enough straight prior to the the first turn, they will put pole position on the 'clean' side of the track with more rubber. The second reason is if turn 1 is not a real turn, but a bend and turn 2 quickly follows on the opposite direction. I believe Canada is configured this way... but i'm not 100% positive. 2) They are watching the FIA world feed... same thing you are watching on TV. Ever notice why about 2 seconds after they show them, they look up and wave at the camera? |

The TV screen(s) they place in front of the cockpit should be the live feed from FIA and also the live timing....you'll see its like dual monitor for my CAD station at work....

Some people said that's about 6-12cm difference between P1 and P2...

Thank you both for your answers on the monitor(s) . I thought drivers were monitoring some parameters in their cars.
Pole on the outside wasn't desirable at least on last race, when Vettel was forced out of the track. He was ahead of MW but obviously hadn't cleared him. If turn had been to the left, he'd have kept his position IMO (hence my comment). Vettel is going to have to nail the start tomorrow to get to the first corner cleanly. FA is not an a$$ like MW, but he's pretty aggressive too, just like LH, and if SV doesn't clear him by the first turn, contact is almost guaranteed. Will be an interesting race, especially if it doesn't rain, since everybody will be forced to use the 'option' tires. And they're not going to last more than a few laps. Later gang. |

Also I think the drivers can also change what camera or telemetry to view....
Not sure if I still remember or I'm just drunk now....I remember sometime ago I saw some drivers holding a remote or some sort to switch channels...maybe they ARE watching porn....

Those Ferrari's are definitely fast now. Nice to see. Vettel robbed Alonso.
Vettel had a mighty lap though. Good for him on his home turf. Still waiting for Mclaren's upgrades to come into full form though.

This is going to backfire. Bet Ferrari lose the points.

I predict the WMSC will take away the points and put Ferrari on probation.
This is a direct challenge against the no team orders rule and a litmus test for the FIA's integrity.

I don't see the big issue. Ok, it doesn't seem "fair", but the attempt to ban team orders is a joke. It really is a team sport. (In this instance) Both drivers are Ferrari employees and like any job, you do what your boss asks of you.
The last thing anyone wants is a repeat of the Vettel/Webber accident.

Pathetic race. Pathetic "win". How can you seriously smile and run around like you're some hot shit when the only reason you won is because your team ordered the guy ahead of you to lay down?
