I’ve got a skyscraper grey X3 with Stek matte PPF. Here’s a picture next to a new X1 in frozen pure grey. I couldn’t tell the difference.

It seems that BMW is pulling a Porsche on how they manage colors for the Cayman, equally terrible and disappointing as the M2’s available palette of colors. “Hey, you can buy our lower priced car that is actually better than the next model up in many dimensions, but you have to make do with shitty color choices…that’s your penance.”

Seriously? Frozen paint is a nightmare to maintain. You can’t repair any scratches, chips, marring in matte or frozen paint. And they look like shit compared to Oem glossy paint.

Kind of what others have said as well…

Now that stealth PPF is readily available, frozen paint ain’t worth it.

Get you a standard color and wrap it with stealth PPF if you want the look.

You get the look of frozen and get the protection. Plus you can always switch back to gloss.

Frozen paints requires special care and maintenance. And God forbid you ever need to repaint a panel.

If you get frozen paint, you most likely are wrapping it in stealth PPF anyway to try and protect it. Save the money and use it to get you a stealth PPF wrap on your gloss paint.

FYI… I had a X3M in Deep Frozen Grey Metallic and it was wrapped in stealth PPF.

For sure the struggle is real. But I immediately got mine wrapped and I love it.

Wow, these guys look so bad ass!

I am curious to see how the frozen stands up over time now too especially since others bring that up. Ultra Matte PPF?

Regardless, I would be happy with either ride. Hells yeah.

There’s also stealth black and gray and other color ppf now out there. I might consider that after my wrap deteriorates. Get benefit of stealth color change and scratch proof ppf.
