Actually now that you mention it there was a kid in a X4M comp on the freeway one day revving his motor and wanting me to run. We were already going 70 MPH and my 11 year was in the car with me. In my 20's I would have played along but now in my 40's I just don't care along with not wanting to set a poor example for my kiddo. Probably why I get good insurance rates.

Anyway, I’ve never been approached or challenged; maybe it’s the black color. But it does turn heads. |

Funny. My windows are pretty darkly tinted but wheel spacers are my only mods thus far. Lots of traffic on the roads around my house so not lots of space to rip it. I think the car being black there is a blending-in to the crowd factor.

The only car that's tried to race me was a 5.0 Stang, exact model and HP I don't know but I got a decent lead then backed off as I didn't want a ticket/jail when I was in a 40 mph zone. He came flying past me like he was the winner. What an idiot. |

Did you try pit maneuvering him? That’s what I’d do if someone started to gap me.

i know its different south of the mason dixon, but in the north where tinted windows are more a preference than anything else, seeing tints on an otherwise stock M3 or S4 signals to me that this is someone who cares about the appearance of the car and will likely have a go

As tempting as it may be , I don’t street race and surprisingly rarely get challenged. Not worth the risk. I live on an Island with 3m people and you can barely get up over 40mph anyway due to traffic. I will do pulls on my own though, late at night. Nobody races from and dig and roll races are just about how much whp you make so no need to race, Just ask how much power the car is making. No doubt a stock S58 car is getting walked by a tuned Rs3. It was probably well over 500 whp.

With AWD and the DSG from 0-100 they are blistering. A stock RS3i s slower than a manual M2 to 0-130 and 0-150 and runs are higher trap speed. Its just you're playing catch up the whole time. Tuned its got to be a beast. That being said there is always someone faster than you. The fact that this car isn't available with a manual and Audis have one of the worse records for reliability I would pass.
I don't street race, you're just asking for problems.

The RS3 is a cool car, but the one thing people keep failing to mention with it is Actual Price paid. MSRP may be about the same as an M2, in reality Actual Prices are often at least $10k more (and sometimes a lot more) as Joe A points out in his review. That's what I experienced when I shopped and the wait was a year. There's simply no way an RS3 is worth $25k more than an M240xi. Audi simply restricts the quantity supplied too much. BMW doesn't restrict quantity supplied near as much even with full M cars.
And when people talk about depreciation that's misleading too because the RS3 may not depreciate as much vs MSRP, but does when Actual Price is used. |

I had some jackhole in a 911 GT2RS trying to get me to run on the tollway yesterday in a lot of traffic. Funny part is every time he whipped into the other lanes he got stuck behind more traffic. Kept zipping around lane to lane to get next to me & rev it. Took him a good 15 min before I guess he finally realized I didn't give a sh!t. Nice looking car though.

Never forget walking into my P dealer and seeing 4 new GT2RSs and 3 GT3RSs all clumped together. It was quite a sight. Like $3M worth of new P right in a small area. I felt pretty out of place. Truly my dream car.

My brother has had a couple of Ferraris, have a friend that has a GT3-RS and my brother in law has had a string of 911s. Just not what I want to drive. I actually prefer BMW over those others. My i4 M50 will be my "practical" car and the M2 will lose anything that was practical about it as I build it into a pint sized monster.
