most systems are modular you can start with a midpipe and add the axle back after. most of the volume and tone increase is coming from the midpipe as you are removing 2 resonators and 2 cats. when you have valves open it’s going through basically a straight pipe. straight pipe aftermarket or stock will sound similar.

if you ever drive with valves closed in comfort you will notice the biggest difference in an aftermarket system
