Remind me what the "$500 loyalty" is?

I am planning to get my $500 BMWCCA discount.

Another $500 off would be sweeeet!

Ah, AutoNation... they suck. Customer service is definitely not a priority with them.

If you have decent credit the interest rates for financing should be 5 to 7% based on the months to payoff. 10.99% is absolutely stupid. If you are paying cash then who cares I suppose.

“He made the right decision and I support him” said the dealership’s owner Neil Maddox Sr.

The car arrived to the dealership yesterday evening. I was just notified by Eric Bowen that they sold the car to a local customer from under me and will be refunding my deposit. Eric said that Neil Maddox, the General Manager, made the decision.

As mentioned above, I have a $2500 deposit down, as well as a deal sheet with all terms. This is an AutoNation dealership.

Gutted.
Damn man.

If that’s the Houston Woodlands, then give Yaz a call at Advantage BMW in Houston, she’s been amazing to me (and very patient, too!)

Last I heard, they had 20-odd on their wait list, but they got an allocation in the first 50 released, so they’ll be moving through that list relatively quickly.

I'd like to sincerely congratulate the local buyer. I've driven one and it's a fantastic car. I'd be absolutely stoked. I have no issue with that part. I'm happy such a great car went to a fellow enthusiast.

Yes, I echo others and recommend that depositors insist on getting back the countersigned deal sheet with language that specifies an actual legally binding buy option. It never came up in my case, but I'm sure they'll point to it if I decide to push the matter. I have reserved and purchased several cars with as little as a verbal commitment, I have been lucky.

Regarding the terms, it is - or was - a true MSRP deal. They agreed to remove all of the extras, and that was when I put down my deposit.

I am - or was - a cash buyer. For any BMW dealership employees, I always get "SLTE" approval, which I'm told is BMW Financial's absolute highest tier and lowest rate. Like someone said above, the 10.99% on the sheet seems to be their default quote.

A little birdie today told me that the local buyer did opt to take all three optional extras. No idea whether this played into their decision.

On the plus side, my salesman has been amazing. He fed me unsolicited updates for two months and honored all requests re: delivery miles, no PDI detail, etc. AutoNation hired a good man.

Further congratulations to all current owners. Also, grateful to even be in a position to be talking about this with all of you. I have my health and can still get a G87 eventually. Things could be much worse for me.

Just wanted to comment and say sorry you had to go through this.

Good luck in your search, but it looks like you did dodge a bullet by not buying through them. Slimballs.

I agree. Yaz is great, coming from another Houstonian. Best of luck OP.

It's easy to be polite when he's getting a fatter commission from the marked-up sale and the GM is covering for him as bad cop. I'm not saying your CA is a bad dude, but he doesn't get any points in my book

Sure. I just asked him directly and he said he's not getting anything from the new deal. I guess all I can do is take his word on that. He does seem like a good guy. I tried to Venmo him something for his troubles and he wouldn't take it.

First off congrats on being a level headed person! I hope good karma finds your way.

I was friendly with my dealer and SA and had a standing order for a G80. He would often call me with ordered G80 cars where the owner didn't want it anymore.

One Friday afternoon, he called me and said there was a car that showed up, met my exact specs and was available to buy. We negotiated to 3K over MSRP (I know, I know...) He told me the car was mine and to come down to pick it up. I drove down there in traffic 45 miles away.

I show up, and the car was sold to someone else about 10 minutes before I got there.

I was pretty livid inside, but kept my cool and took the offer of a free tank of gas and % off my next car there.

At the end of the day, it's just a car, and going crazy on the dealer would have accomplished nothing. I was actually more annoyed at wasting 3 hours of my day driving to the dealer and back more than anything.

Months later, I ended up buying my G80 there, and they knocked off $3K for me.

I just picked mine up from bmw of austin yesterday as there hea car they opted to sell instead via a raffle for all people on the list. I had the winning lottery ticket. Supposedly they aren’t getting another one for a month, and obviously the list is long.. I have a spot on the list as well still at #4.. still might order a custom build there. If anyone wants to buy mine hit me up via pm…. It’s zaandvoort blue with 8 speed auto and carbon roof, m drivers package with drift analyzer and hud.. nice spec

This is the right way to go about it for sure. Some people do have to wait over a year for a car and might be willing to catch a felony for slashing a few tires on the way out if a dealership pulled a stunt like this.

Good for you. I’ve purchased cars for 5+ decades and made it a policy never to get emotional about a car. In life’s grand scheme “It’s just a car” as you said.

If we weren't emotional about cars, we'd all be driving CVT Sentras
