As someone who's contemplating a RWD 240 to replace my RWD M340i. I am still hesitant in accepting the fact that a car this small will only give me about a 100lb advantage while sacrificing the sedan's utility. As for sunroofs, I don't use them and would gladly accept a car without one.
As I posted in another forum...
Car and Driver Just tested an M240i xDrive. The thing is unnecessarily heavy; 3,900 pounds- or only about 300 pounds less than my old 1974 Monte Carlo. It is legitimately fast, but I'm thinking a 2018 F83 M4 DCT would suit me much better- it's a tick faster north of 100 mph, only 4" longer, and 230 lbs. lighter. The M2 Comp posts nearly identical numbers to the M240i and is over 300 lbs. lighter. The M340i RWD is equally fast and 50 lbs. lighter.
I'd rank the alternatives-by my preference-as follows:
1. M2 Comp
2. F83 M4 Comp
3. M340i (RWD, Only with HP Tire and Cooling)

Buy whatever you wish, most car buying choices are individual choices, usually tempered with the practicalities of cost, suitability to purpose intended etc. I could list my preferred choices but in no way would it be relatable to anyone else here. And yes we all know it is a heavy car. Most folks choosing a AWD are aware that it comes with a weight penalty (as you pointed out) for the benefits they want from the AWD.

Wow, these cars are only ~250lbs lighter than a Macan S SUV. The Macan is a lot more practical, though more expensive, but not as fast though 4.3 0-60 ain't shabby for an SUV. I'm not sure how far off a properly equipped (PASM, PTV, Sport Chrono) Macan is in handling though?

I was not aware that listing my automotive preferences was a forum faux pas. Please accept my humblest apologies!

Funny that you mention that; my BMW dealer has two Macans on their used lot- both were base models, however.

You can order it now. The delete option is under Premium Package 2, it reduces cost by $800.

NVM...wrong model.

It's a huge disappointment to me that there's no sunroof delete. I can't imagine what the reason would be for it to be mandatory on the M240 but not 230.
