No... all gyms are created equally It's hard to be a nice, friendly, welcoming environment when you can smell the testosterone a block away

It's all good, though

The barbell curl at the squat rack guy.. Nothing more annoying then some dude who feels the need to do his heavy set of back swing curls on the squat rack; while there are people waiting to do actual squats.

The guys who feel the need to chalk up between every fucking set. Chalk has it's purpose but some guys just abuse the shit out of it. It's annoying as hell when the floor starts looking like Tony Montana and the Colombians just threw a fucking party..

I do find it comical watching the occasional fat dude chalk up before a set of deads. After about 3 or 4 sets the dude is covered in chalk and is starting to look like Pillsbury Doughboy. In his defense though, majority of the time these guys will be doing the exercise right..
Now that brings us to the skinny dude who chalks up to do a set of deads with a weight he has no business doing.. At this point the chalk server two purposes.. One is to help with the grip and the other is to help us draw the outline of him on the floor for the cops, once his spine snaps and he collapses.

Blind leading the blind.. The 2 guys or occasional crew (usually really young guys) who follows the advice and exercise of the groups supposed "alpha", even though that guy has no idea what the hell he is doing. So now thanks to him the whole group is doing the exercise wrong.

Double Mint Twins.. Usually seen on chest day; one guy will do the exercise and the other will spot. The guy doing the press will be using way too much weight so in turn the guy spotting will be doing a set of shrugs with each rep because he will be pretty much pulling the bar off of the guys chest. This is usually followed by a high five and "hey that what as great set bro"..

Yup just as bad as douche bags striking up body building poses, while not looking even close to a bodybuilder physique.

People who talk and talk while hogging equipment or being in the way. I did a quick workout at my tiny apartment gym a couple of weeks ago - this one guy and girl were talking literally the entire 25 minutes I was there, while she had her yoga mat, two sets of DBs, and a medicine ball just laying there. Take that sh!t somewhere else.

Re-racking weights is a biggie. Also not a fan of guys who have 3 sets of DBs next to their bench and I haven't seen them use one in 10 minutes.

The wannabe thugs rapping to themselves. How can they not see how big of a tool they are?

Guys who cut off the sides of their shirts so far down that there's literally 1/2" of thread holding it to together at the very bottom, so they're basically half-shirtless. It screams desperation, like men's lingerie. In a gym.

The extreme grunters. There's exertion, and there's trying way too hard to get people to notice your extreme heavy sets, bro.

Along the same lines, the people who drop the bar hard on EVERY deadlift rep. Not to brag as I'm nowhere near this anymore, but at one time I was deadlifting over 400lbs at 5'11" and 175, and even then I didn't drop the bar so hard every time that it sent shockwaves up people's spines on the other side of the gym. The way down is still part of the lift... I can maybe understand the very last rep but every one?

Using equipment for anything other than its intended purpose. Yoga mat right in front of the cable press, flies on the bench press (or worse, dips) when normal benches are available, etc.

This. F@cking this.

I swear, once I get a house, the first thing I'm doing is spending $1,500-$2,000 on a home gym with some basic weights, benches, and a squat rack. Not only will I make the money back in a couple years by not paying gym fees, but working out anytime I want and not having to deal with these imbeciles would be heaven.

since I haven't actually witnessed anyone curl in the squat rack, the only HUGE thing I've seen in the gym is the dude that takes up both tricep/bicep cables to do a set of curls. The kind where your arms are flared out horizontally and you curl towards your head.

Taking up two machines is just the worst.

I'm guilty of liking the Barbies. Not all are that bad.
Hate being surrounded by walls
Hate the not so nice girl walking in front of you pretending no one is around and singing
Hate the guey people starring at you: annoying

Hey all,

I agree with pretty much everything said here. But what gets to me most is people with poor hygiene!!!

I don't want to name a specific nationality(s) but I guess you all know what I am talking about.. Some people can't brake old habits and adopt to modern day life.

Some guys at my gym are so stinky that they make it impossible to work out. The other day I was doing bench press and one of them walked by me. He was so stinky that I ended up dropping the wights on my chest. Luckily someone came to my help...

F***ing shower and wash your clothes!!!!!

All of this is making me really happy with my gym.... while I'm there (which is early morning so an admittedly more focused crowd than you would have in the evening) we have hardly any of these annoying things listed above happening. I did think of another though that I do see on occasion:

BOARD SHORTS! ... (now I'm being judgmental but c'mon, don't wear swim gear to work out)
