Is it cos the 2007's are higher co/2 , they're pre the "efficient dynamics."
I had a 2009 335i, N54 and it's lower tax the early N54s. I think the 2006/7s.

so same principles with the 335d, could be logical.

Not necessarily , cos thankfully my 335i didn't have that stop start nonsense
I think there were some earlier efficient stuff like brake regeneration.
Definitely something happened on the 335i that changed to allow later cars a tax break.
