‘Nother duty this car will have is picking up my 11yr daughter from car line.
I can see that being a shitshow when she tries to get out, at the expense of the side-skirts.

I love my bucket seats. I set seat position 1 for driving and 2 for enter/exit where the seat is all the way back

I love my buckets but recently have been having a malfunction with the passenger side. It started after I just normally folded the back support and it automatically moves forward but after returning it to position it threw out a malfunction warning and will no longer move forward and backward. After I brought it to the dealer, they end up ordering a part. The service guy called it the brain and claimed it cost $3k and will take a month to come in. But it did come in after two week and got installed after just a day. Service guy even said total cost was 8k. I was like wow md thanks. Unfortunately, I got it back home and after making adjustments it’s still malfunctioning. So back to the dealership tomorrow… anyway I don’t mean to discourage anyone and I think I’m so far a lone wolf with this issue. Hopefully it will get fix soon and get my sick M2 at 100%. Even with this issue I will still pick the buckets as they are just so cool and comfortable as well.

Picked up my G87 (auto) last week with the buckets. Getting the buckets was an agonizing choice mostly because my wife was really nervous about how comfortable she would be as a passenger. It took us a bit to find one to test drive. At the time she said they would be worth a try.
Happy to report after a full week of in/out driving around she loves the seats now and exclaimed how comfy they were for longer periods of time. The kids love threatening to tickle us from the back seat. Lol. |

I love my buckets and wouldn't have the car any other way. Initially I wanted the sport seats since I was getting a manual and guys were saying the hump on the buckets were uncomfortable when shifting. That and also because I'm only 5'7" around 170lbs. When I learned that the buckets sat lower, I was worried that I would struggle to find a good view. But once I got to sit in them and adjust the height/tilt, bolster tightness, everything just clicked and felt "natural" The seatback is firm and the bolsters clamp onto your back firm like a BJJ black belt, you aren't moving. I only wish they were able to integrate some sort of lumbar adjustment but that is just nitpicking, these seats are ultra supportive and very comfortable. I have learned that it's the way the seat hugs you as opposed to how "plushy" the seat is that determines comfort, at least in my case and YMMV. The center hump was a little annoying for a week but now I hardly even think about it. On top of all that, they look great. Getting in and out are the only main annoyances now but I have finally found a way which keeps my left leg from grazing the bolster too much and wearing the leather. If you have the means and opportunity to get the buckets, go for it.

And there’s the issue. Loved the seats when I was in ‘em, hated getting out of ‘em. Passengers, too.

I was agonizing and over the weekend I just went for it. I am still worried how the blue trim will go with a purple car, but I figure since it's merino leather I can find someone to dye it black if it bothers me too much.

I think the sweet spot is about 5’10 and 185lbs and below it will be comfortable. If you are above that height and weight your experience may vary
I’m 5’9 175 with an athletic frame and it fits very snug especially on the bolster where my lats are and legs. Very comfortable for me.

I've used SEM products for interior vinyl and plastic and they're professional grade stuff. Never did try them on seats or carpet but have read good results from others. I like that on the buckets the dark blue is more prominent than the sport seats where I focus more on the light blue. Last edited by Del33; 07-17-2024 at 12:47 AM.. |

I'm turning in my GRY for an M2, collecting the car in 2 weeks.
Before ordering I tesdrove an M2 with the regular sport seats. I found them to slick, to little lateral support and awfully sliding. I had the chance to compare with the sport buckets, and amazing difference in feel, support, connection. I`m 1.80 m and 80 kg and these buckets fit like the best gloves. I dare to say these buckets are better compared to my GT4RS LWB, also good seats with one minor issue; the shoulders are thrown to much forward, after long driving it gets somewhat aching. The M2 buckets have a better shoulder position in that regard. Can also be heated, the RS can not. I would not order a M2 without those seats to be honest. |

Dammit, y'all are making me want to go find some buckets and see if I can figure out an easier way to get out of them. Be another $4,500 added to my order at this point.
Wondering if the flat-bottom wheel will make it any easier to egress... Also these https://ind-distribution.com/product...-protector-set This thread is kinda hilarious: https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1825336

The video on post #6 is the method that I use. After a few days of practice I don't have to think about it anymore and almost swing myself in and out now. I came across it searching for a bolster protector but this method has worked so good for me that I hardly graze the bolster anymore. https://g87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2029273 |
