Update:
Got my allocation and deposited and signed for HEA M2 ZB 6MT. Coming in 2 weeks but will not be able to be delivered until April 1. Dealer wrote down on bill of sale that if my custom allocation shows up before April 30 I can refund the HEA deposit and just wait for my custom M2. Otherwise I can trade in my hea (for MSRP or even higher) when my custom gets here. Either way it's a win-win scenario. Also by taking the HEA I don't get bumped down the list for allocations on the customizable vehicle

Did the dealer write into the contract that he'd buy back your HEA for "MSRP or even higher" or are you counting on being able to flip it privately for a profit? |

Congrats! Quick question: was your delivery date of April 1 a typo? I ask because you mentioned being able to back out of your HEA deal if your custom allocation shows up by April 30.

For example if I come back from vacation April 28 for April 29 delivery but let's say my custom allocation is filled mid April then I can just skip the hea

If I can flip privately I'll do it if dealer can do MSRP I'm fine as well. As long as I don't lose money. But no they didn't write that in for obvious reasons

Gotcha... So I'm taking that to mean that M2's will be released by dealers on April 1st (at least in Canada). Thanks

I am getting my Dealer's HEA car, ZB Manual. Chicago area.
Production is complete, awaiting to be released for shipment - as mentioned on another thread apparently they are going to hold them all until they release them all to be shipped at the same time. Does anyone know when? I got the VIN this morning and added it to "Track My BMW" on the BMW NA Website. It shows as "Ready For Transport". It feels more real now, LOL! |

My dealer tells me mid-March they expect delivery and to be held there for a couple weeks until the stop sale is lifted and I can take delivery. It is a painful process when you want your shiny new toy. |

Just an FYI, the last I saw there was not a ‘Stop Sale’ on any of the G87 units currently on U.S. soil at VPCs nor on those that are en route. |

My hea is at the New Jersey port, it doesn’t have a stop sale on it but it now has a release hold as of today according to my dealer. What does release hold mean exactly?

It probably means that bmw wants the first wave to hit dealerships at roughly the same time so that there is limited FOMO and any negative reviews get drowned out by the overwhelming positive reviews.

Yes, I am a glutton for punishment, with regards to trying the Manual again, LOL. This time around at least there is a Short Shifter Kit, the Future Classic One. Should work on the G87 as well. I will do the CDV delete, Clutch Stop and SSK, and hopefully I will like it better this time around. I already have a deposit in for a second M2 for a later custom order - as I am pretty certain I will want the Carbon Buckets, based on having 2 M3 Manuals last year, one with M Sport Seats and one with Carbon Buckets. So I can give this first HEA M2 a go, and then later decide whether the second one will be a Manual or a ZF Auto. There is another nuance as well - if you recall, last year one of the challenges I had was that my other car at the time was a 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 in a Manual, and I had a hard time jumping back and forth between the 2 cars, the feel of the clutch and shifting was so different, as was the gearing - 1st in the M3 was so short, and 1st in the 718 is so long, which exacerbated the issue with the 1-2 shift in the M3 being difficult. Now my 718 is a GT4 with a PDK (which is amazing!) - so I wouldn't have that back and forth issue. (I do have a Manual GT4 on order, since they are going away forever after June production. But the PDK is growing on me, so I am not sure I will make that switch "back" from PDK to Manual, and getting the HEA M2 in a Manual even more so makes me think I should stick with the PDK in the 718.) I am excited for the M2. That will be the Daily Driver, with the 718 being the "special car" for to and from the track and spirited weekend country road drives. (The GT4 was also the track car last year, but I got a dedicated track car over the winter to keep the miles and wear and tear of the GT4. A built Cayman with the 3.8L 911 Carrera engine with the X51 Power Kit, will be even faster than the GT4...) I am headed to BMW Thermal in a couple of weeks for a Private Session, they do not have a G87 available yet for that (they are projecting September), so I need to drive something else. I will likely do a RWD M4 to proxy for the M2. (It weighs about the same, LOL, just a longer wheelbase and rougher on the eyes.) I sure do make my life complicated! But all of this madness is great fun. |
