So glad I went with the sun roof. Most of my cars had sun roofs and BMW did a first rate job in its execution. Provisions to support pop-up, slide back, and sun shade.

No rattles, no issues.

The only caveat, and it's a small one, is that you need to take care when waxing to keep wax off the seal.
This photo would've been even more awesome had the front & rear end not been chopped off.

Something I learned like 9 years into BMW sunroof ownership (2 different cars) is that once the sunroof is open, if you slide the button towards the back again it opens some more …. Pretty much all the way.

Not sure if you knew that already but give it a try!

The roof of the G87 is not long enough & is curved at the rear, so the glass is not opening all the way.

You rock man & I really appreciate you. I'm trying to quickly pay off my X3 M so I can buy a Brooklyn Grey M2 with a sunroof next. So these photos aren't just for my BG G87 M2 collection. They're also motivation for me to keep going & buy one of these awesome coupes before they're all gone. The S58 sure will go down at one of the best & last great ICE powerplants ever built. But I might be a bit biased.

Thanks
1200 miles on a clock with no issues. I specifically went for a sunroof option to get more light in to the car and use it daily instead of opening windows

Sunroof rattle

I have the same issue. All was good until I hit about 15K miles then the rattles began. This will be the fourth visit for repairs. First they lubricated a couple times, then replaced the seal. The lubrication lasts about two months, then it starts all over again. I was warned after seal replacement that any "detailing products used on the seal or painted surface with seal will not be warrantable for noise." In other words, they can't find the issue, so they'll blame it on me for keeping the car clean and void my warranty.

My sunroof creaks when driving slowly over driveway curbs or large speed bumps. I have 10k miles.

Love my CF roof and would get again. I liked sunroofs in prior cars but not enough that I miss it.

I recently picked up my new car from a BMW dealer and so far I'm very happy with the sunroof. I use it every day. It looks great on gray when the rest is black. And it can be waived...
I have 600 miles and there is absolute silence, the seals make no sound...

FWIW if I could have ordered a 2025 instead of the 2024 that happened to be unloading from the truck when I was looking, I would have done this config personally:
ZB paint, full black wheels, M color interior with black leather normal sport seats, carbon fiber trim, carbon fiber roof, and all the shadowline stuff. I can get 80% of the way there with my spec since mine had sunroof and no shadowline lights
