With full Apple Car Play there's no reason not to, even if it's slow to charge. Cables suck (coming from someone in the IT profession).

I’m rolling the dice and ordering it. If not I’m sure I’ll just go back to my classic phone holder

I'm also getting it .. dislike wires with a passion

Would be awesome if it really is improved this Gen . Although I do have my doubts

But I never really had an issue with overheating on my 19' 540i . Unless it was a 2hr + trip, it would feel slightly warm to the touch

Usually running Apple Carplay and/or Waze it would basically keep the battery charge at neutral . Neither + or -

oddest thing is that BMW "can't get chips" to make these items, yet I bought about a dozen wireless chargers on Amazon.com for christmas gifts. Got them at PRIME speed in a day. They support the latest charging protocol, were like $10, don't overheat my phone, and charge quickly. Am I missing something here with BMW?

The problem with these turds are that Qi wireless charging sucks in the first place. Then you attempt to create a generic charger to fit all phones - despite the fact that they come in different sizes with the charging coil therefore hitting different spots on the generic charger.

I'm surprised that BMW doesn't have an option for a MagSafe charger, seeing how they've always embraced Apple. That could actually be made to work and work well.

I just picked up my 45e three days ago. Didn't order the charger (and didn't get it) but the digital key works. The reader is in the pad where the charger would be.

BTW, I like the digital key because I almost always have my cell on me, but not necessarily my keys. Just makes it easier to open the car in the driveway or whenever without having to go back into the house. Just a bit more flexibility.

There is no indication that digital key is available. It should be listed in the build sheet, ordering guide, or BOY. I have searched, but there is no mention of digital key.

edit: I found an online owner's manual that has a section for the digital key but it includes the caveat "BMW Digital Key availability and functionality depend on vehicle equipment and national market version.

I'm having trouble finding a definitive answer. I'll update if I find anything out.
I have the '23 45e and I do have the private key, but not the charging pad. It, the Private Key, is listed under standard features for my car. Part of the Comfort Access Option code 322.

Says the digital key is part of the Comfort Access package (which is part of the Premium package in Canada). So you get it but have to pay extra for the wireless charging as a separate package.

Also, notice how the wireless charging option mentions it has built-in cooling to avoid the phone overheating? Wonder is this is the new version/feature that I was referring to earlier in this thread?

I'll test it out.

Can't find the link at the moment, but the owner's manual has a section on the Digital Key.

I have it on my m4, used it once or twice. Significant heat observed in battery and very low charging speed.

OK I am going to take it off lol. Save my money and retrofit it myself or just use a car mount like usual.
