It’s also a LOT cheaper than an equivalent performance Porsche Cayman GTS - here, the same spec as my G87 would cost more than 20% more at the equivalent of $104K |

Bumpinjeep Excellent post here & I couldn't agree with you more. There's nothing else that can tick all the boxes that the G87 M2 does & the way it does it for this price.

In the UK the MY 25 is about £70k depending on options. I was going to go with a Dark Horse mustang but missed out on allocation but wasn't too impressed with what was on offer at a similar cost, plus i had 2 x GT's before. Test Drove a Cayman GTS,loved it but would have been used for my price point. Tested an Alpine GT and for £ 60k was really tempted but luggage space was an issue for me on any European Tour. That left the M2 and it offered up everything i wanted, Fast, comfortable, plenty of space,Brutal looks and plenty of rear action if needed. Should be with me by December.

Every time I compare my G87 to my Uncle's 2024 911 base pdk he paid upwards of 150k for, I am reminded how capable and polished these cars are for the money. I would not swap cars with my Uncle if he offered, unless I could sell it and buy 2 G87s. I was shocked riding in his 911 and feeling the ride was more compliant in the G87 with both cars set at comfort settings, but the G87 can also be more aggressive and sporty.

Additionally if you’re someone who is into modding cars it’s the cheapest way to get the S58 and an extra 200 whp is just an ECU unlock, downpipes and a tune away. Not very expensive mods. Bang for the buck power that puts it at the level of most super cars. I haven’t taken that step yet but it’s a top reason I got the car.

Most of the price difference in Europe is due to the sales taxes (VAT) being included in the price, as opposed to being added to the configuration (such as in North America). I looked at similar configs with carbon roof and most comfort and convenience options. I also added 3-years service for the UK and Germany, that is included in the Canadian and US price. Not sure if this needs to be added to the Australian price.
Comparing prices in Australia (minus 10% GST and 33% LCT over the threshold), Canada, Germany (minus 19% VAT), UK (minus 20% VAT) and US, comparative prices in €: Australia €61,015 (AUD $99,766 taxes removed / AUD $123,990 inc GST & LCT) Canada €59,482 (CAD$89,239) Germany €73,904 (€87,946 inc VAT) UK €70,947 (£59,090 taxes removed / £70,908 inc VAT) US €66,251 (USD$71,575) |

Selling my G82 for one as well! Don't get me wrong, I love the G82, but a shorter wheelbase and similar track with the S58 and small power bump really sold me on this car and the price just sent it to the moon. My build is $72k on the G7 vs $98k on the M4 and a $26k difference is HUGE while getting 90% of the features and 93% of the power with the benefit of that shorter wheelbase! If only the G87 has aluminum doors and forged wheels, but that would probably kill most of the value proposition.

Forged wheels and 400 lb diet would be all most people need - no need for a $98k CS with more carbon bits, wing, and similar weight

I agree. The value is pretty much the reason I went with the M2. The Supra, Mustang Dark Horse, and Civic Type R were other candidates, but the price of the M2 really surprised me when I first saw it.
You can buy a new F-150 with decent options for like 65k lol… It’s an insane price for a nearly 500 hp 2025 BMW, and the fact that the M2s hold value well makes it even better. It was definitely at the high end of what I could afford, but I don’t regret it one bit—worth every penny. |

The S650 has made improvements over the older S550, still falls short. The Coyote V8 is the main attraction.

The Dark Horse also has: 1) superior manual transmission 2) dedicated drift brake 3) launch mode which is more useable 4) better suspension (magnetic ride) 5) cooled seats 6) better digital gauges (many classic styles as well as modern ones) |

M2 only needs a piggyback for like 100 whp or a Femto unlock and tune for even more. Factory forced induction! |

As cool as all of that is, many are still concerned with reliability, fit/finish, how the materials feel, quality of dealers & service, etc.

Exactly, Ford is awful. One of my uncles was a tech for Ford nearly his entire career & there was never a Ford vehicle at his home. He didn't drive Fords, my aunt didn't drive Fords, and none of his daughters drove Fords. Says a lot, imo.

I've had a few Ford company cars/trucks. Brand new they're great, all the tech and gimmicks one could want... but the quality declines rapidly.

My 2023 M2 was $68,195. Didn't build it. Bought it off the showroom floor.
But I feel the car a good value. Certainly better than my Scat Pack ($50K) and my Hellcat ($65K). (Seeing reports the 6.4l (Scat Pack) and 6.2l (Hellcat) engines appear to be suffering from early/premature cam/lifter failure. Got out of the Scat Pack at around 8K miles. The Hellcat I put 27.5K miles on but sold it before the warranty expired.) Quite happy with the M2. Right now don't have any plans to replace it. |

giving me flashbacks to my dad's old 5.4L triton work trucks. boat anchor piece of shit that ticked loud as hell and chugged oil almsot from day 1. he went through two of the "jelly bean" gen F-150s, both dying around 120k miles, before he switched to GM products.
