Great to see it available.

But not sure I understand. A map was developed for the M2, without a dyno? Not sure how that works. Don't you develop a tuning map by actually doing dyno pulls?

Can you tell us does the Racechip GTS Black raise power levels up to the same as M3/M4 level of power when those cars use Racechip? Does the Racechip make up for the difference in boost pressure the cars have stock vs stock?

Initial map already developed in Germany at RaceChip HQ Facility with dyno.
RaceChip US tech and I just confirming the compatibility in US spec with California 91, and tweak as needed.
We do datalog while driving normally with few WOT.

Not all tunes developed by doing Dyno pulls. As you see a lot of flash tuners just grab your stock files and modify the parameters based on what they’ve seen working and even without datalogging.

No one willing to pay a real Dyno tune. Those tuners charge by the hours.

I don’t have a data to back this up since I didn’t Dyno it.
But, based on my butt dyno test and with my best memory on G80 M3 MT with GTS Black, it is about the same.
Unfortunately, I don’t have access to internal mapping data, but as I mentioned, it felt similar to G80 M3 MT.

What’s the main differences between the Racechip and the Dahler unit?

The Dahler unit runs nearly 3x the price.

Based on what I can see from pictures, Dahler is using DTE Tuning boxes. Which, is the old technology of RaceChip Ultimate.
While from the RaceChip side, I can tell you that they do develop their own software and tune.

It's very simple really for piggybacks:

Racechip = has the most modern HW, with built-in Bluetooth, a team of 60 people, 12 engineers, does their own tuning on their own HW. Provides 2 year $10K engine warranty (no extra cost).

Carbahn = licenses the HW from Racechip, claims to do their own tuning, warranty is expensive and extra cost. Even the tune is extra cost.

Dahler = has one extra sensor, HW licensed from 3rd party (RC?), more expensive, seems to be a good box..

JB4 = ancient HW, 1970s DB9 connectors to even add Bluetooth, more complex installation, *BUT* to their credit they are the only ones monitoring CAN bus, offering ethanol (eXX) tunes, etc. If you are doing a lot of mods to run E they are the only game in town.

I personally, will not do any other mods than the piggyback - so I choose to support the most innovative plug and play company = Racechip. I'm glad they exist.

Specially on the G87, which has so much headroom due to the factory detuning, piggyback is a no brainer.

This is one of the main reasons I went auto. Knew I was going to turn it up and take it roll racing. Definitely didn't want to deal with the clutch slipping, smelling, and needing replacement.

This.

I saw that and wondered what was going on. Makes no sense. Is that common for a dyno to be connected the the front wheels like that?

These Racechip and derivative piggybacks seem to just bump boost by 0.5lbs for each level (1-7). Just choose the corresponding map for your rules.

With the Racechip, the level is displayed right there on the unit, so they can check on impound, though they'd have to trust you are not using Bluetooth to change it during the race.

What do you mean to confirm the difference?
The higher the map, higher the horsepower.
It is the same function as any other piggyback.
