Pictures from my birthday!
I'm so oblivious. My parents and I had planned my birthday party to be next weekend but they ended up surprising me and having it yesterday. In the evening, my mom took me to the salon to get my hair and makeup done and she told me we were getting it done so that I could see if I liked it. Sort of like a "test run" for my hair and makeup for my party next weekend. I was like, "Okay! FUN! Experimenting with hair and makeup." So after I get it done, my parents drive me to the hotel to "look at the banquest room." And I get there and my mom says I have to go change into my dress and I do and I come back to the room and everyyyyoneeeee is there. EEEH! I love my friends and family. They do so much for me and I really don't deserve it. Pictures from the party! You can see my "omg! surprised!" face in the first picture. |

Looks like a big celebration with family and friends. In Mexico, the 15th birthday is the milestone event known as La Quinceañera. In the Phillipines, I believe the 18th birthday is the big event. Since you are mostly Vietnamese, do you know what the milestone birthdays are in that culture?

So i actually based my party off of somethign similar to it! In my picture.. you can see me holding pink roses? Cotillians have that.. where 18 of the girl's closest guy friends give her a rose and dances with her.. i did that woo so fun! ill try and post more pictures later when my friends sent the photos to me. |

Happy Birthday to the King
Happy Birthday ! Jan 8th 1935 TUPELO, MISS. -- Elvis Presley, who would later become known as the "King of Rock 'n' Roll," was born in Tupelo, Miss. to Vernon Elvis Presley and Gladys Love Smith. Sadly, his twin brother, Jessie, was a stillborn. Presley began his career as a child, singing hymns and gospel tunes in church and at state fairs. At age 18, he walked into a Memphis studio and was paid $4 to record 'My Happiness' and 'That's When Your Heartaches Begin' as a present for his mother. The owner of the studio, Sam Phillips, recognized the teenager's talent and helped him score a record deal. Presley was an almost immediate success, bringing to the music industry a new sound, infusing rock 'n' roll with country music, R&B and gospel He quickly became an international sensation, as well as an international controversy. Elvis' hip-shaking moves and sometimes rebellious lyrics made youngsters swoon but their parents cringe. He also took that sexy persona to the big screen, starring in 33 films. "The King," as he was called, enjoyed steady chart success from the mid '50s through the mid '70s, selling more than a billion records to date. On August 16, 1977, Elvis died of cardiac arrhythmia -- a form of heart attack -- inside his Graceland mansion. He goes down in history as one of the most important figures of popular culture. He would have celebrated his 71st birthday today. |

Those big birthdays seem so fun. I don't even know enough people, or have a big enough family to fill a hall like that.
My girlfriend and her family have those cotillians, once I went to my girlfriends grandmas 80th birthday, and there were like 200 people there all related to my girlfriend, I was nearly the only whitish one there, there are some uncles who are white. Anyways, I was amazed. And very jealous you had such a nice birthday, my birthdays are always lame.
