Plane ticket and house in the Galapagos. We're leaving tomorrow morning...

That was my story to her when she handed me chocolate covered strawberries on Friday...and I'm sticking with it.

we went to ortega for the first time a few weeks ago. we got there early enough that we were able to drive freely which was really nice. on the way back we were going to stop at hell's kitchen but there was no where to park and i didn't want to force my car into a tiny spot. maybe next time.
sorry, my obsession has been trucks. no idea about quads, bikes, or side by sides. you're living in the right place though. california has tons of desert to ride in. calico, johnson valley, glamis, ocotillo wells, anza borrego...

ortega was fun. there wasn't much traffic, but i kept it pretty casual as i didn't want to attract any chp attention. i can imagine coming around a corner hot and getting hit with a radar gun.
hell's kitchen was ok. good, but not great. they have a decent menu, but its more of a bar that serves food rather than a restaurant. its a decent place to take a break and head back to oc.

Just a ride on the bologna pony.

Glad we don't celebrate the Hallmark Holiday.

not to thread jack too much but i had a very used/modified 79' CJ7 when i was a teenager... oh my how i wish i had one of those now. one of the most fun rides i ever had... no top, no doors, just a strait six and ruckus.

not sure if you've seen this but this is where i'm pulling my drives from since i'm new to the area.

bmw also has a mobile app that is cool while i'm on the road.

Any of that crap that gets given on V-Day means 100x more when it's given because of Wednesday at any other time of the year.

It may sound somewhat, clinical, to some, but i have reminders on my phone to pick up something as a little surprise several times a year. I guess maybe not as clinical as doing it on the same day as everyone else in the country.

Anyway, nothing wrong with those who do get down on V-Day. I just love seeing the surprise of it happening several times a year out of the blue, for no particular reason.

You make it seem as if celebrating V-day and surprises "several times a year out of the blue" are mutually exclusive. Sure it's amateur hour at every "nice" restaurant in town, especially when you see those who clearly can't go there "on a Wednesday", but it's still an excuse to go somewhere rated one or two Michelin stars higher than your standard weekday eatery.

What ever makes you feel better. St. Valentines day, whether you like it or not, has become, like many others, a "hallmark holiday" in spite of the history behind it. And i'm not just talking about between coupes. All you have to do is scan a FB news feed to see how elaborate things have gotten, even on an elementary school level. It's ridiculous.

They aren't mutually exclusive, but at the rate we're going, if some people don't start "voting with their wallets" it's only going to get worse. Hell, Americans spent over $700 million on Valentine's day gifts..... for their pets.

Next time, don't wait for an excuse to go to a higher rated restaurant. Just pick an evening a go. It'll be nice that way because there won't be a pre-fix menu on the Wednesday, Sunday, or Friday you end up going.
