Made the changeover from Win7 to Win10 last night... Let's see if it really is the last Windows OS you'll ever have to buy/upgrade.

I think I'm going to buy another SSD and install Win 10 to that for my desktop and see how it goes...if it doesn't work well enough then I'll put back the drive with Win 7 on it for a while longer.
You can download software from Microsoft to create a copy of Win 10 on a 4gb USB drive, so I'm giving that a go as well.

I've hated everything from 7 on. I don't want apps and shortcuts. If I wanted apple like os I would've bought apple. I still can't figure out 8.1. Km paralyzed on my pc.

I have Win 7 Ultimate on my laptop and will keep that on there. On my PC I had Win 8.1 pro. Really did not like 8.1. Got used to it but didn't like it. Win 10 is a notable improvement over 8.1. Not sure yet over 7 but I will keep it on my PC.

Just dl'd WIN10.... going to take a little getting used to but like it so far... seems faster. One thing I don't like is that my favorites (even imported) are all messed up royally! Otherwise, so far so good....

I stick to my W7u for the next months until several (expected) bugs are fixed and watch the serious experience reports online for helpful comments. Was to expect, that Windows also uses at least features that require access to your personal data, like Googlespyware or Androidsistersuckingsystem. Mac isnt a match ever, Im no i Diot

Running Windows 10 on my SP3 (i7). Liking the interface much more than 8.1.

Haven't had to do anything performance intensive but this is looking like a great direction for Microsoft.

So far I like Windows 10 on desktop.

On tablet.. it's not really that great. The desktop mode is ok but has the same issues with the keyboard coming up - you need to press the keyboard button yourself. The tablet mode is strange for multitasking. Switching between apps and desktop programs is weird. Desktop programs seem to be disconnected from everything else.

Win10 is a such an improvement over 8.1. I hated the apps style interface and a calculator that took up an entire screen. I still prefer Win7, but making the switch to it wouldn't be worth it.

Has anyone figured out how to get rid of all the dumb'd down settings and make it back to a style like Win7 or before?

I tossed it on my dual booted Macbook pro the other day, still just as annoying as windows 8.1 and only use it when I have to

Microsoft hating aside, It does seem to run a bit smoother overall than 8.1 did... I only have a couple automotive programs I run on it, and 1 or 2 games here and there, but im sure eventually I will get some use out of it.

Came from Win 7, did it about 2 weeks ago, have that explorer.exe error on Visual C++ runtime error. Called MS, on hold for an hour, then another hour and they didn't fix it. Told to wait for a call last night between 10-12 AM, of course no call.
That aside, I think it does seem faster, games load up faster I think.

I would stay away from windows 10 why do you think they are offering it for free. Its loaded with hidden tracking shit for the government so they can spy and find terrorist & shit which is not a bad thing but it still violates our privacy the good guys. It can also detect any pirated software such as games, programs & movies there always a catch. the best part is you are agreeing to it, know one ever reads the fine print.

Yeah it does take quite a while to find all the "privacy" options to untick...Luckily there are articles on the web that walk you through...I got Cortana to work then disabled it after I found out just have much access you have to give it.

I upgraded to Win10 a few weeks ago, and am enjoying it. I didn't use Win 8 very much, but can see that it is closer to 7 than 8 (a good thing).
I was impressed by the flawless upgrade process, it updated all my drivers somehow, no hiccups or retries or anything.
Now, I did get stuck in a failure loop installing in on my friend's older laptop, but kept trying and eventually it went through ok.

My one complaint is that it set me up with Two User accounts (one Gmail and one MicroSoft), prob because I entered a PIN when prompted during the install. Now it defaults at the logon to a diff user account (maybe my previous one from Win7?) which I don't have a password for (I didn't use a password in my prev Win7 user account), and always fails to login.
So I need to switch to the other user account and enter that PIN, which does log me in.

I tried to follow some instructions I found online to get rid of the PIN, but you have to confirm ownership of the MS account, and its not able to confirm that so doesn't let me reset or delete the PIN.

Why Oh Why did I enter that PIN # during install? I thought it might come back to haunt me, but I also didn't feel like having to do the install again if it was required (it doesn't tell you if its required or not when prompted).

I am almost willing to RE-install Win 10 just to get rid of it, but I am not even sure the issue (and the PIN) wouldn't carry through to the next install.

Moral of the Story - DONT ENTER A PIN during Win 10 install.

AND none of this explains why it is now needing a password for my other account, which never had one before.

Other than this inconvenience when logging into the OS, it works great! lol

I am looking to purchase a new comp within 6months. Will Win10 work with older games?

I haven't played a lot of games in the past few years, but I remember there was stability issues when a new OS came out and games weren't designed for it.

Can anyone comment on my novice question about older game stability.
Thanks
