Smart move on raising the gas tax, roads are crap, Fed hasn't raised the gas tax in close to 25 years and this will cost the average person less than $2.50 a week? (quick guess). Cars keep getting more efficient, road repair continues to cost more (like everything else) and we are unwilling to keep up with it as a country.

Iran is a net exporter of crude oil but a net importer of oil distillates, meaning, while they have a bunch of the black stuff, they don't have the equipment to make the clear stuff. So the government buys it from foreign refiners and subsidizes it at a price... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irania...dy_reform_plan Venezuela is a nut house today. They export the black stuff and the clear stuff, but the government panders to the socialist ideology, so they're bleeding through lack of taxes on gasoline. https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...dies-cheap-gas

for starters, they can retrain the crew who does pothole repair work because quite frankly, I think I can do a much better job at it. Anyone can dump it over a hole, put a cone on top of it, and call it a day. Then when drivers like me go over it, feels like I'm riding an pissed off bull. Come winter time, plows pluck it off like a scab and shit gets worse and people wonder why NJ infrastructure is utter crap

In the old days, you would see regular go up the full 23 cents, and premium go up 7. Today, I bet premium goes up at least 23 cents. No substitution...

A year from now the tax rate will still be at 7%. They are going to wait a year so people forget about this and then if anyone still complains, they will say that a tax cut will be way too costly.
Right now we are getting bent over again with no lube. NJ: the stretch out your asshole state. |

Federal gas tax in 1993 - 18.4 cents per gallon
Federal gas tax in 2016 - 18.4 cents per gallon 23 years later the tax hasn't changed. My guess is costs have gone up in the last 23 years, I know I get paid more.

I'm still waiting for the day I can have amazon deliver me some US gas by drone right in my backyard so I can avoid the damn stealer gov. taxes.. :/
You really don't know how good you have it lol.. It's about 1.44 per liter here now for 98 which is lower than a year ago (1.6).. That's near or above 85 USD just for one full tank of gas! (55L+) and my N20 is not four times more economical in the EU than it is over there lol Then again Oil intervals here are at about 30k and yours are at 10k so maybe something is different? What we could do is to start paying them more. How can we expect a road crew to care about what they're doing when they're getting paid often only $60/hr.? It's pretty da** hot out there in the summer esp when you're standing on asphalt |

this makes no sense. Aside from the regulatory issues involved in delivery of flammable liquids via air, even if they can do it, the government isn't stupid...they'll find a way to ensure taxes are paid. Heck, we already pay taxes on most goods bought on amazon.
