Did a trip from Morris County NJ to Sarasota FL in a 2005 4.8is with my buddy. He claimed he could drive nonstop the entire time... Guess who drove 14 of the 16 hours it took us to get there? Oh and yes, i was severely speeding

Driving like that doesn't bug me, just need some music and maybe some coffee.

Generally about three hours is my max before I want to get out, stretch my legs, grab a drink and a snack then hit the road again.

I've driven the Golf type R, it has this as well and ECO tips.

I was trying to figure out how to use the navigation at a gas station, I got a message saying something like idling for long periods of time uses fuel.

I revved the engine a couple of times to hear the exhaust , I got a message too.

I think you're really limited to how much the tank holds vs mileage. So around 500 mi is pretty much maxed out. I did about that in about 10 hrs without a stop. Why 10 hrs? A truck carrying cantaloupe caught fire on the highway in a spot with no alternate route. Cantaloupe were exploding, trailer burned to the ground.

I can do fairly long runs without breaks. Done, Ca to FL, NV to FL and Canada to Fl many times. Most recently Fl to Socal in 2.5 days in my m coupe....small tank capacity had me stopping for fuel often. Gonna be doing the drive again at the end of the month when I bring my wife and kids out here.

VW shouldn't really be telling anyone how to be eco friendly.

Damn straight. My longest continuous would be Las Vegas, NV to Ozona, TX (1072 miles). I took a 45 min. nap at the request of my buddy following me to pull over for a bit. Then continued on to San Antonio. San Antonio, TX to Las Vegas, NV is 1277 miles...half of that drive in TX...

The last time i drove through Montana, many years ago. I couldnt believe how fast some of the trucks were going. I was doing 75 mph some passed me like I was standing still.

It was usually the Peterbilt with the extra lights. When i drove in Europe i was surprised how slow they all drive.

22 hours straight. 1,359 miles. BY MYSELF. In a brand new 2011 335i coupe. Proof is Paul Bailey and Neil Goro. Both on e90post. I flew to Los Angeles from New Orleans. Paul Bailey picked me up at LAX. Went straight to the dealer where he sold me the car. He let me crash at his house for the night. Woke up at 530AM and left his house in Huntington Beach. Drove with only stopping to refuel ALL THE WAY, BY MY FUCKING SELF to Neil Goro's house in San Antonio, Texas arrived at 5AM the next day where he graciously let me crash in his spare room. Then it was up and another 8 hours to New Orleans.

BEAT that guys!!!!!
