Possible, but I think there is another. What people described to me did not seem this nice and spiffy. It was a more informal private collection that had grown until the owner started to organize it as a museum, now spawned into several barns. Apparently a collector who has a bunch of very early racing bikes, as well as many early unrestored examples of Indians, Harley, and some of the others that I only have name recognition for. If I can get more info I'll post it here.

Either way, this museum you found will make a nice stop over next time my wife drags me to the CIA (worth if for the drive through the Catskills - not quite as impressive as the alps, but no crazy cows). Thanks

Witnessed this scene. Luckily the 1M escaped unharmed, but it was a close call. 'Rambo Cow' of Passo Rombo was clearly not amused and charged, violently swinging its horns towards the rear quarter panel.

These pictures reminded me of the Auto Museum in Reno, NV. It's very interesting and worth the time if your ever in the area. There are some of the most amazing cars there. Everything from first road going vehicles to amazing Mercedes and a BMW isetta, or Ford model Ts, and everything in between.

Here is a picture of the first "M3". Monroe M3 that is.

I love it - the world's first M3 (and a 4 cylinder, true to original form).

Thanks very much. That is one pass I have never done. Made it to the toll gates, but it was closed.

The new museum looks great.

The Timmelsjock Pass is one of my favorites. There are actually quite a few nice mountain passes in this area.

Every late summer a few of us Euro 1Addicts like to drive the Timmelsjock on our way down into Italy. For the last few years that's how we ended up in the Sella Alps. I can't think of a better way to get down there!

Just keep in mind most of these Alpina passes don't open up until min June and they tend to close for winter in October/November(when ever the first good snow falls). Its always best to check the mountain pass's website to see what the weather conditions are.

Btw... here is a recent pic from the Mountain Top FB page...

Anther nice pass is to drive the Hahntennjoch to Imst, Austria. Then your quite close to Timmelsjoch. Once on Timmelsjoch you can drive South into Italy.

Or... drive the Hahntennjoch and then go thru Pfunds, Austria and head down to Stelvio. All nice must see places.

I sent this also as a PM, but posted here because it might help others...

Dackelone:

You are a great resource!
I enjoy all of your posts.

I'm planning a trip from Imst to Timmelsjoch in early July 2018.

Is Google Maps telling me I can't go direct from Sölden to Timmelsjoch because the road is closed until winter subsides?

Will it likely be passable in the first week of July?

I want my family to see my favorite road, the Timmelsjoch and the interesting architecture throughout.

Many thanks!

Yeah... in the winter months, many passes are closed(Timmelsjoch, Stelvio, Furka, etc). They normally reopen in the first week or 2nd week of June. Yeah... all that snow takes some time to melt!

You can check out Timmelsjoch's website to see when the pass reopens for the summer months. Normally it opens in June and stays open until Sept/October.

PS: I also sent you a PM with lots of links where to go while you are over here.

Just a note... Swadeness and I stayed at this little family run hotel(Pension Elmerhof) in Elmen, Austria. Pension Elmerhof was a decent hotel, but it was very basic out in the rural lands of Austria.

We then drove from Elmen over the Hahntennjoch Passhöhe, into Imst, Austria and then thru Soelden(Solden), 6450, Austria and up to the Timmelsjoch Pass.

From Timmelsjoch(Mountain Top Museum & Restaurant) we drove down into Italy. We drove thru Walten(also called:Valtina) and then to Hotel Restaurant Zum Engel(in Vipiteno BZ, Italy). The Zum Engel is a very nice oasis hotel. Great food and a nice hotel.

Walten(also called:Valtina) 39015 Province of Bolzano - South Tyrol Italy

Hotel Restaurant Zum Engel, Via Deutschhaus, 20, 39049 Vipiteno BZ, Italy (next door to Zum Engel is a Repsol Gas station which has 101 octane fuel... a rarity in Italy. Most gas stations only has 95 octane or Diesel in Italy, so we always tank up in Vipiteno )

From the Zum Engel(in Vipiteno BZ, Italy) you are just a hop/skip and a jump from the awesome Sella Dolomites(mountain range, Pordoi Pass, Arabba, Alta Badia-Dolomites). It's really hard to go wrong in staying/driving the Sella Rounda loop. However last year they closed the Sella Pass every Wednesday for the summertime. So don't plan on driving Sella on Wednesdays!!!

We stayed at the Hotel Bellavista a few times. It is a very fairly priced hotel(<100 euros per night with dinner/breakfast). We also stayed at Hotel Kolfuschgerhof once. While it was very nice... it was also kind of price at 280 euros per night, half board. I am more of a Hotel Bellavista kind of guy.

Hotel Bellavista, Str. Pordoi, 12, 38032 Canazei TN, Italy
Hotel Kolfuschgerhof Corvara-Colfosco, Via Rönn 7, 39033 Colfosco-Corvara, BZ, Italy

I would post some Google Map links... but since its winter right now Google diverts you back up thru Innsbruck and down the Brenner Autobahn.

Well... you have plenty of time to plan your summer adventure. Let me know IF you need any more help.
