I am 99% sure that this is a great car but FWD automatically removes any fun at low speeds... drifting, hard launches etc. are out...
And remember at a 33k price, one can still have an STI.... this is a hard sell to me... all the FWD cars close to 40k car are very tough sells. |

But seriously, never had a problem with BMW and their warranty. And also maintaining my 335i was actually cheaper than maintaining the new civic turbo. Not even kidding. You just need to find the right shop and parts place. If you do everything at the dealer, of course they're going to charge you up the ass. Also, the type R will be 50k CAD+ taxes, not many people will spend that money, it's suppose to compete with the STI, Golf R. I'm FBO and I still have warranty and I bring my car in and they don't say a word. |

The youtube review complained Type-R feels slow from the stop and on the move when compared to cars like RS and STI.
I can understand RS but STI should be considerably slower: the Subaru is much heavier and has inferior torque curve while putting out identical horsepower. Here are the numbers: http://jalopnik.com/by-the-numbers-2...-wr-1796140398 |

I know Honda builds a great product, reliability wise, cost of maintenance etc. But that is one damn ugly car.....I should say to be fair that it's just not my cup of tea, some may like it but I just don't have any love for any of these cars other than the VW GTI, the rest look like Juke Boxes to me.

I would not care what other people thought, unfortunately, I would have to look at it. Maybe if I only walked backwards to it in the morning and did not have to see it?

I don't get it, what were they thinking? I can't possibly see anyone but some teenagers driving that thing. If you remove the wing and replace both front and rear bumpers, maybe you will have something decent. And that exhaust with that cheap 4-cyl sound.....

But set a side all the hate, Honda does make some great performance cars with some great 6-speed manuals. And their FWD layout seems to be working wonders. What I don't understand is how a FWD Civic with 4-cyl engine hanging over front axle can have Nurburgring lap time faster then Audi R8 V10, GT2, all M3s and M4s, and bunch of Ferraris and Lambos?

This car would qualify as a double bagger. But unfortunately even a single bag won't work. To me this car represents the epitome of being professionally vandalized. Just don't get the look they were going after....a car which looks like someone went to Pep Boys and bought all the tacky bolt/stick ons they could find to make it look "faster".

In other news... a detuned version of the Civic Type R motor will make it into the next Accord replacing the V6.
What this means is that since the Accord and the TLX shares related platforms... this motor could find its way into the Acura TLX... maybe as a TLX type R? Think about it... TLX TYpe R with Super Handling torque vectoring awd and making a little more power. That would put the TLX Type R as a car to be cross shopped between an Audi S4 or m340i. They would just need to boost the turbo or strap a larger turbo to the motor to get equiv hp. |
