As much as I'm sick of Hamilton winning, it appears that he generally avoids these turn 1 debacles. I don't know if anyone has the stats, but aside from a few times he's been rear-ended, Hamilton tends to get away cleanly.

I know he's often on pole - which makes it easier to avoid crashes, but even when Vettel's on pole or on the front row, he has had his fair share of collisions.

I seem to remember a period of time where Hamilton was consistently having bad starts. But even then, he wasn't colliding with anyone.

I've only been watching F1 for maybe 2.5 seasons, but as far back as I can remember, Vettel has ALWAYS caused an incident or another.

I can see why you'd get that impression over that time frame. It was not that way prior, including his 4 WCs and the 2 years beforehand.

I don't remember that, but I'm not doubting it. I was really excited about his debut with BMW Sauber, following Kubica's strong debut. When Vettel went to Toro Rosso, I kind-of lost touch with his career (except for the race win), until he went to RBR.

Michael Shumacher was an aggressive dick who cut people off, boxed them out, and stuck his nose in everywhere. Vettel is cut from the same cloth. But eventually, you have to keep your car out of trouble in order to win races.

It's possible that both SHU (Fer) and VET (RBR) eventually landed in superior cars, that allowed them to avoid much of the confrontation (although SHU scrapped together 2 WCs with Benetton).

I have been saying that all along as well. And when confronted, both of them always played innocent. The best was when Vettel asked at the Bakhu race last year why he got the penalty, after trying to run Hamilton off the track.

The same could be said about "the greats" in many sports. Even Michael Jordan was known for being a mega dick...Tiger Woods...etc.

HAM seems to be pretty good at avoiding being a d**k on track. And a champion. So it can be done.

MSC was an amazing driver and definitely the most prolific champion but he would literally run rivals off the road. VET is cut from the same cloth with one critical exception: MSC was cool on the track and almost never took himself out of the race. VET doesn't have this quality and actually appears to be getting worse. If he's not in the front of the grad and able to put 2 seconds on the field before DRS is activated, he's in for a hard time.

Definitely true. He deals with the high stress/pressure extremely well and in such a smooth manner for the most part.

But it should be mentioned that he's a super-dick on the radio to his team, and sometimes on the podium, and often in the cool-down room.

Well done Leclerc. Seems like the only racing happening is on Saturdays anymore. Even the drivers admit they are all just maintaining pace and fuel saving the entire race. Really hoping the new engine rules shake things up.

And in public appearances. And in his choice of jewelry. And in how he deals with the *cough*b*cough*a*cough*l*cough*d*cough* thing.

Or not. I don't care in this case. My point was, and is, that he doesn't do stupid shit on the track.

What he does the rest of the time is open to personal preference and interpretation. I personally thought poorly of him when he blew off all of the British fans last year, but he turned around and won the race. They pretty much forgave him after that, and so did I.

It would be even more boring without the clashing of both personalities and cars on the track though...like a soap opera without the affairs. Who wants to watch that? I wish more drivers were aggressive (and reckless at times) like Vercrashin and Vettel on the track.

With Ferrari and Mercedes not offering a seat only McLaren and Renault looked like providing an alternative option for Ricciardo, but they are too far behind Red Bull in terms of competitiveness.

Let's face it. Everybody loves Danny but he'll be 29 years old in a few days time. And if Max hadn't made that stupid mistake in quali in Monaco, he would have beaten Ricciardo 4 times in a row both in quali and in the race.
