I agree with you that there has never been a formal complaint just speculation and hearsay.

If there is one team in F1 that will cheat or ‘accidentally infringe on the rules’, it will be Ferrari. And if anyone here believes that this is an uncontrolled injection of oil into the combustion process, they are a fool.

Then ask your team,Merc is it? to protest in the half hour after the provisional results are put up, then we'll see who the fool is.

You left out Ham's much fresher tyres.

If any F1 team aren't burning somewhere near the limit of the amount of oil they're allowed to burn under regulations, they're missing a trick. And to be competitive in F1, you can't miss many tricks.

Once the RB's tyres were going off it was straightforward gaining more than a second a lap for Lewis.Another easy win for Lewis before the holidays and easy overtakes on the straight with the then best car and DRS. Carry on soldier.

Positive guys . The tires from MAX were completely shot.
Each lap MAX was losing between 1-2 sec. The moment when Lewis overtook MAX was like the RB15 was standing still...
I heard the onboard radio from MAX about his tires .Honestly it was actually heartbraking. MAX had no chance to make it ...While Lewis was approaching on fresh tires like a bullet !
The Merc strategy worked perfectly ...

Where in Wilts are you?

I grew up in Melksham many moons ago.

Sorry if I’ve asked this before.

F1 is boring. You can't have teams that are ridiculously expensive to the degree that most competitors have no chance while also having a ridiculous amount of rules.

Either make F1 unregulated so we can at least see some cool stuff or make it spec and affordable so we can see driver talent and good racing. As is we only see the results of some team's pocketbook.

So great that you have chosen to reduce F1 down to a Playstation game.

This is patently false. Off the top of my head, Ferrari had McLaren’s rear brake pedal banned, and Lotus’ two piece chassis banned.

FIA bends over backwards for Ferrari like no other team, Charles should have been black flagged for Suzuka.

I hope this issue gets solved so I can watch their cheating asses continue to lose

someone fill me in on this rule- is a little bit of blowby allowed, but it can't be intentional?

This is a good explanation with some good speculation in the comments.

Since maybe 5 races ago, Ferrari has some newfound power, seemingly good for the claimed 60-90hp that burning oil gives.

Ferrari has had to play catch up to Mercedes with their split turbo design (turbine on one half of the engine and compressor on the other side with a very long spindle). Merc has been more competitive due to lower charge temps from this design.

Teams have been trying to introduce more oil into the charge for a while and there had been reports throughout the season that Ferrari has had oil burning smoke and smell, and per the comments of the article, they could be playing with spindle designs or oiling of the compressor.

If this is clarified and Merc can take advantage of this, they can stack this on top of their already better charge temps.

It’s really difficult to keep track of all of the FIA rules now. Verstappen is the only thing that keeps this sport interesting.

It can't be controlled by tech yes.

Don't play it myself though you'll find all F1 drivers train on something similar regularly to keep their tactics competitive.

Essex Lotus twin chassis back in the early 80's? come on that was a blatant cheat machine at the time of ground effect as bad as the fan car of Brabham in '78.

That can only happen if Merc protests which I somehow doubt; they have been pecking away about nearly everything they don't like or challenges their questionable tech advances.
