Morality can be deep, it can also be quite simple. Stealing something falls onto the simple side.

openoffice works like a charm.
Now, do new computers not come w/ the multitouch option? (ie: enlarging pictures, 3 finger back page thing?) Thanks for all the help so far guys I really appreciate it. |

I'm fortunate enough to have an iMac and a home built PC. The PC I use for games and balancing my checkbook - Money only comes on PCs. The iMac I use for everything else. The learning curve for the Mac is pretty shallow, but so are many of its users.
I am using the free version of PC Tools iAntivirus, because it is free and uses very little system resources. It only looks for Mac-specific virii, so I am capable of spreading Win-based virii back into the wild. A combination of safe surfing, demanding nobody forwards me e-mails, and the relative security of Mac OS X allows me to forget any worries about outside hacks. I use the Student and Teacher edition of MS Word, Excel, and Entourage (e-mail client). For a $150, it's not a bad deal. The latest patch sped up launching considerably as well as quelled some other annoyances. It's not perfect, but I like it better than iWork '08, which I also have. |

Amazon has Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac Home & Student Edition for $124. Or, as others mentioned, Neo Office works pretty well if you are not doing anything too fancy. |

Macs are 95% less likely to get viruses over PC's because they are less than 5% of the market.
Malware writers target the largest audience not the smallest. However, Macs do get viruses and have just as many if not more vulnerabilities.

Same here... after playing around with windows vista for 10 minutes the other day on my sister's laptop I can say for sure that I won't mind switching over to a mac and learning something new. It seems like they flushed common sense down the toilet when they were designing vista. If a mac is anywhere as easy to use as an iPhone then I'm all for it.
