Alright, after watching the CarWow video on the DBX, I'm starting to like the design. I will say of the recent "exotic/bougie" SUVs (Cullinan, Urus, Bentayga, etc) I do think this is the best looking of them.

I am just totally confused at which market niche this fills...?

If you want a ridiculous fast SUV; get the Urus, it does things some sports cars can't.

If you want an absurd luxury SUV, get the Rolls... everything else (this and Bentley included sucks).

The Rolls is violently ugly. Their sedans are already as large as Suburbans. I honestly don't get their current lineup.

I like it, after a second time looking at the video.

Exterior:
- Front proportions look right, in particular the Aston mouth.
- Side view proportions look right, in particular the side vent and roofline taper at the rear.
- The duck tail is great. Rear lower valence is a little fussy but doesn't detract from the overall feeling.

Interior:
- Center stack isn't great.
- No wow feel for me.

Powertrain:
- AMG V8 is proven in many MB 63 models.
- MB 9G-Tronic transmission is widely used and generally accepted.

The rolls is not violently ugly but its violently ridiculous which is why its so great... this car screams mediocrity... lets hope Ferrari brings a worthy adversary to the Urus party.

I'm not a fan of the Q8 Plus either. And yep, the Cullinen is awful, my sister lives in Dubai, it seems like a car custom made for that market and no other. I still like the Aston, as sort of a nicer, rarer Cayenne.

Aston Martin (being a business ...) does not want to give up profits in a growing segment to others car manufacturers. Understandable. Yet this car fails to inspire a definitive intent to purchase.

Design is starting to grown on me (not that rear though). Looks like it'll be more of a competitor to a Cayenne vs the Bentayga. It looks like a Cayenne from some front angles too.

More like a very big ford focus. The inside looks par for the price, but the outside clearly is missing the 'je ne sais quoi' that you'd expect at that price point.

Not feeling it at all. Like a Rapide with a lift kit . And a bit late to the party.

I think he was spot on, regarding what makes the urus tick
German chassis/suspension, german engine, german gearbox/drivetrain.
So I guess its a matter of how you judge it: with your eyes or with the rest of your senses.
