I almost bought one a couple of times. I love the RX-8 wheels on these.

I was all set to buy a 2004-08 Acura TL as my daily. I randomly test drove a used MS6 & was hooked. Should have kept the 1st, but that went in 2010 (40k+ trouble free miles). In 2013 I bought this red one locally. It was a one owner car and still stock minus CAI with 62k on it. Put over 35k trouble free miles on this one before I sold it in 2018. My friend ended up buying the TL in my sig shortly after I got my 1st MS6. I bought the TL from him last year. You never know what's going to happen! |

However, I did already buy another boost gauge & mount & it's in the mail. (Sold the ones I installed when I demodded some before sale) |

How are these for reliability? Been seeing them pop up in my searches but I don't know much about them.

Both of mine were trouble free, but I don't treat my cars like shit. If maintained, they will be dead nuts reliable. |

Not very reliable at all. The AWD drivetrain can't take the abuse and it was Mazda's first go at direct injection in a turbo car. The stats on paper were impressive at the time but reliability was pretty terrible, especially once people started modding them.

Congrats, looks real clean. I also had RX8 wheels on my MS3, it dynoed at 275/350 with just a tune, too bad it was wrong wheel drive lol.

Is it FWD until traction loss? Handsome red MS6 btw. I find the RX8 wheels look great on other Mazdas but kinda boring on RX-8s themselves. |

I just remembered my buddy in college had a white one, installed DP no tune and blew the engine. This was before anyone knew that was a no-no lol.

It was a first year (2006?) and he definitely beat on it, AWD clutch dump launches, redline shifts, etc lol. Mazda replaced the engine for him.

I miss my MS3, best sleeper I've ever owned. It was awful off the line but after 3rd gear I'd pull past almost everything I raced.

The Mazda 6 has a fantastic chassis with very capable and stable handling.. Bonus that they are nice and light. The 2.3L engine has pretty great delivery and feels fast but they are driven so hard... these things throw a rod all the time. If people used better oil and didn't run the crap out of these I know they can last. But Mazda's newer 2.5L engine is built much stronger than this. From a chassis/drivetrain fundementals perspective Mazda's are great cars. My 2015 6 has been very reliable and the 2.5L engine has good torque.
